Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 9th April, 2011

Today's weather;

Samui woke again up under a blue sky! Current temp at 7am is 26.4C
Today's it's goodbye Koh Lanta and here I come again Samui! I'm looking forward seeing my family again later today!

Yesterday saw also a sunny day around the Samui with a max temp of 29.5C

Yesterday all train traffic in South Thailand resumed it's service again, the only thing I'm not sure about is if Surat Thani's airport has been opened yet.

Saladan, Koh Lanta as seen from from a boat

Koh Lanta has blue skies as well and the current temp at 7am here is 26C

Yesterday was hot and sunny around Lanta! Max temp reached 31.8C

The PADI IE on Koh Lanta was very successful and my candidates all passed! Hence, today I'm on the road back home, my job here's done!

Hi Camille,
Thanks again for everything you are doing with your blog and congratulations to all your PADI candidates (100% success rate, wow fantastic!)
We were supposed to arrive on the 18th via Surat Thani, bus to the pier and boat to Samui and we have already bought the tickets but yesterday we decided to buy flight tickets directly from Bangkok to Samui. kind of waste of money but we wanted peace of mind as it is still not clear about what happen in Surat Thani, especially the road going to the pier.

Have a nice sunny day!

Hi David,

The bus and boat option would've been no problem, drove today around the Surat Thani area and on to the ferry, no problem at all.

Camille, We were booked at Kalara Gardens at BangPo but they have advised they need to cancel due to mudslide. With 2 families and 5 children, I'd really appreciate knowing 1) Is the road between airport and Bangpo flood free, 2) Are restaurants, food and water back to normal, 3) whats the visibility like for diving in the area. Appreciate anything you can share.

Hi Steve,

All major roads on Samui are open and no problem to travel, including between Bang Po and the airport.
Restaurants, food and water are all back to normal and the diving is getting better by the day.

There should be no reason for not coming to Samui!

If you need any help for your diving, please let me know and I will be happy to help you out!

Hi Camille,
I'm traveling from Phuket to Koh Samui this Monday, April 11th, and was
wondering if you knew whether the buses are back on schedule. You seem to
be in-the-know on such topics.
Thank you for your help.

Sincerely,
Dr. Adam

PS - Really like the blog!

Hi camille,
We are on koh phangan now. I dont notice a lot of difference with last years visit. Roads are fine and food is great as always. For travellers still having doubts, dont worry it is fine here.

Hi Camille. Over the past week or so we have been following your blog daily. We are holidaying on Koh Samui soon and have found your blog a lifeline to the real situation, of which we thank you. To show you that we really do appreciate your daily reports, when in Koh Samui, we would like to take you out for a meal with beer too !!
We will be at Rockys from the 2nd May if you could get in touch.
Many many thanks, Mike & Tracey

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the heads up and the invite, much appreciated.

A donation to my beer funds would be much appreciated, I may not even be here when you visit Samui, soon my travels take me to Indonesia.

Enjoy your trip, all is back to normal again on Samui.

Hi Fabi,

During the beginning of May I would expect Samui to have the better weather conditions over Koh Lanta and Samui will be in full swing in contrast to Koh Lanta where right now many shops and restaurants are already closed or about to close for their low season.

Shaimaa,

If you read my blog carefully, you would've seen that all services are already up and running without problems.

In May everything should be absolutely fine. You can book rain tix upon arrival but you may want to make an online reservation to avoid having to wait.
