Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 30^th July – 5^th August 2018 

It's late in the evening and with being busy at work, I almost forgot it but it's Sunday and time for Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 30th July – 5th August 2018.

No running today, but I hope to start that again tomorrow. Instead I have been diving at Panagsama beach near Moalboal on Cebu island in the Philippines. See a picture below.

On Koh Samui it was cloudy today with some rain showers and a max temperature of 33C. Now in the evening at 9.30pm it's 28C.

In Moalboal in the Philippines we're part of the yearly monsoon and the last 3 days it was cloudy, windy and at times with rain. Maximum temperature today reached 29C.

Last week some a mix of partially cloudy days. Sometimes it stayed dry and sometimes there were some showers. A few times the wind played up a bit as well. Maximum temperatures ranged between 33C during the daytime and 25C at night.

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 30th July – 5th August 2018; A clown frog fish as spotted yesterday. This was found on the house reef of PADI 5* IDC center 'Neptune Diving Adventures' at Panagsama beach, near Moalboal in the Philippines.

For next week there's still lots of cloud cover predicted an it looks like a lot of tropical showers. The wind may also be picking up in speed and power, until Wednesday. Mostly during the night or the early morning though.

It's Sunday morning and time to get going with the Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 23rd July – 29th July 2018.

No run today since I injured my right leg last Monday. At the moment it looks that I will be at least one more week without running. It's also not sure if I can make it in time for the Samui Festival marathon come 30th September.

Back to Koh Samui's weather though, it's fairly cloudy with a weak sun trying to pry through the cloud cover. Current temperature at 8.30am is 28C but it should get into the lower thirties Celsius today.

I find myself back in Moalboal in the Philippines today. I'm in the middle of the current July 2018 PADI IDC. We are in the rainy season here but today it's nice and sunny. Current temperature at 9.30am local time (1 hour ahead of Thailand) is 30C

Last week the weather was fairly steady. A few tropical showers, a bit of sunshine and strong wind. Fairly typical July weather. Maximum temperatures ranged from 27C to 34C

The forecast for next week predicts showers between Monday and Thursday with some hard wind come Wednesday evening and night. We're coming to the end of this month and hopefully we will have better conditions in August. Stay tuned for more updates.

Goodbye to November 2017

Goodbye to November 2017

It's the last day of the month and time to say Goodbye to November 2017. 

Today is actually at the tail end of a storm coming over Koh Samui and all day so far it has been raining with a thunderstorm just having passed us.

It has been raining all day long, sometimes harder and sometimes just a little bit. Flash floods have occurred at all the usual hot spots but will recede quickly, providing the rain stops or slows down.

Current temp at noon is 24.8C.

Goodbye to November 2017; The flash flood is receding in front of Wat Plai Laem and will be gone soon, providing it stops raining.

This month was truly a rainy season month, with no rain during only five days this month! Every other day had rain in various degrees and amounts. Plenty of days there were flash floods around the island, but they disappeared almost as quickly as they popped up. The hard rain never lasted long enough to cause serious problems. Maximum temperatures ranged from 28C to 32C.

The start of the last month of this year is not far away, just a few hours before December 2017 kicks off and we can only hope it will not be a repeat of last years weather. The forecast for next week looks ok-ish, considering this time of the year, in the middle of the rainy season. Rain can be expected but nothing too serious. Around the 6th December another storm might us again, so let's see and wait to see what happens.

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 13th November –19th November, 2017 

It's Sunday morning, around 8.15am Samui time and there are scattered clouds above Koh Samui with a very bleak sun coming through and it's time for the Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 13th November –19th November, 2017.

It looks like today might stay dry and we have a current temperature at 8.15am of 27.6C

I'm still in the Philippines, at Panagsama beach near Moalboal on Cebu island to be precise. It's partially cloudy here with the sun out and about and a current temp at 9.20am local time of 28C.

Last week saw rain at some stage during every day. Varying from a normal shower to some thunderstorms for good measure as well. Very typical rainy season weather around Koh Samui. Maximum temperatures ranged from 28C to 32C

The forecast for next week is also very typical for this time of the year, each day is most likely going to see some rain and occasionally a thunderstorm may pass over. Be prepared for some occasional flash floods but they should not hold on for too long. All in all nothing out of the ordinary for this time of the year.

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 6^th November –12^th November, 2017 

It's late in the evening after a hard day's work but here is at last the Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 6th November –12th November, 2017.

It has been raining pretty much all day long on Koh Samui although not very hard so no floods occurred. It's dark now and at 8.30pm it's 25.1C

I find myself back at Panagsama Beach in Moalboal on Cebu island in the Philippines, where I started my 150th PADI IDC program today. A nice jubilee!

It's also rainy season here and we had overcast all day long with just a few very light showers. We're an hour ahead of Thailand and it's also dark here with a current temp at 9.30pm of 24C

Last week saw some pretty standard rainy season weather around Koh Samui. Only Friday saw a complete dry day and a nice visit from the sun as well, although it was mostly partially cloudy.

All other days saw from partially cloudy to cloudy days and there were a few rain showers, occasionally causing some floods. Especially the beginning of the week was hard, when Samui was sitting at the outskirts of a storm. Lots of rain and flash flood galore for a day or two before things went back to better conditions. Sometimes the sun was out but there were showers as well. From a tropical shower to a few times hard rain for an hour or so, but that was mainly during the night.

Max temperatures ranged from 27C to 32C

The forecast for next week is fairly standard rainy season weather with some rain predicted on most days. Tonight might see some hard rain in the morning but come next weekend, we may also see some sunshine again. Typical for this time of the year though, so enjoy all the sun that you can get!

Today's weather;

It's sunny over Koh Samui this morning with still a few clouds in the sky but I expect the sun to burn them away, so better get ready for a hot one. Current temp at 7am is a nice and cool 26C

My last day at Panagsama beach near Moalboal in the Philippines, this afternoon I will finish the current PADI IDC, an update is to follow and I will be off to Cebu, tomorrow it's back to Koh Samui, via Manila and Bangkok.
It's cloudy here today and current temp at 8am local time is 27.6C

Yesterday was another warm day with the sun occasionally popping out. Max temp reached 33C

The forecast is looking good for the next ten days with a mixture of partially cloudy days and days with a bit more sunshine. In general a very good forecast with plenty of sunshine and just an occasional chance of a tropical shower.

Today's weather;

It's fairly cloudy over Koh Samui this morning with rain possibly in the air. There are some very small and isolated blue spots in the sky but it looks like the clouds may prevail today. Current temp at 7am is 27C

Here at Panagsama beach near Moalboal in the Philippines, we have a partially clouded sky with the sun breaking through at the blue spots, but we had some hard rain earlier in the morning. Current temp at 8am local time is 26.2C

Yesterday saw a nice and warm day around Koh Samui with a partially clouded sky and sunshine as well. Max temp reached 33C

The forecast predicts cloudy skies until Friday, that's when sunnier skies should replace the cloudy skies with partially clouded skies to very blue skies, varying from day to day with occasionally a bit of a breeze and very limited tropical showers.

It's a bit cloudy over Koh Samui but dry at the moment this morning, the sun is trying to get through but to not much avail at the moment and there may actually be a shower or two this morning. Current temp at 8am is 29C

Back here at Panagsama beach near Moalboal in the Philippines we started the day once more with an early morning dive, hence we're an hour later than usual with the daily weather update. It's partially clouded here with a current temp at 9am local time of 30.7C and the current PADI IDC is still in ful swing.

It's a nice day and morning with a blue sky over Koh Samui with just a few rare and scattered clouds in it. Current temp at 7am is 29C

Here at Panagsama Beach near Moalboal in the Philippines we just have gotten to the half way mark of the current PADI IDC here in Moalboal. This morning it's under a lovely blue sky with a current temp at 8am local time of 28.2C

Yesterday saw a nice and warm day around the island with a few showers at some locations of the island. Max temp reached 33C

Ut's cloudy over Koh Samui this morning with just a few blue spots in the sky but it is and it should stay dry today with a nice breeze coming in. Current temp at 8am is a nice and cool 28C

Again a later update this morning since I was diving again at 7am this morning under a nice blue sky here at Panagsama beach near Moalboal in the Philippines. Current temp at 9am local time 30.7C

A nice blue sky can be found over Koh Samui this morning and it looks like it will stay that way today, so get the sunlotion out and get ready for a hot day. Current temp at 8am is 29C

Just like yesterday, I started the day with a dive and hence the update is an hour later than usual. At Pangsama beach near Moalboal in the Philippines we also have a nice blue sky and it looks like we also will enjoy a nice and warm day. Current temp at 9am local time is 30C

Yesterday saw a nice and partially sunny day around Koh Samui with a warm max temp of 33C

The forecast is looking good, Monday through to Thursday may be a bit cloudy with an occasional tropical shower but all other days in the next ten day period look sunny and nice.

Today's weather;

Other parts of Thailand may have rain and wind but on Koh Samui the weather scene has changed and it's a very nice blue sky hanging above Koh Samui this morning with some isolated clouds looming around in the sky. Current temp at 8am is 30C

Today's weather update is a bit late since I started the day with a 39 meter deep dive as part of the current July 2016 PADI IDC in Moalboal in the Philippines, which we started yesterday The deep dive was a great way to start the day and all this under a nice and sunny, blue sky. Current temp at 9am local time in Moalboal is 30.3C and the temperature is rising. Mabuhay!

Yesterday saw a nice and warm day around Koh Samui but at isolated locations there may have been rain at some point. Max temp reached nonetheless 33C

The forecast is looking a lot nicer now, we should see a lot more sunshine and blue skies going hand in hand with a decrease in wind, except for Monday and Tuesday, which may be very cloudy with strong wind and rain, but especially after these two days, it should return to very nice weather patterns, with lots of blue skies and sunshine, so time to bring the sunscreens and lotions out again.

Today's weather;

It's cloudy but dry over Koh Samui this morning and the sun is trying to break through the cloud cover at some spots around the island. Current temp at 7am is 28C

Here at Panagsama Beach near Moalboal in the Philippines, we started the PADI IDCS course with Irish yesterday and we also a visit by PADI Regional manager Andy Auer of Western Thailand, today we will kick off the PADI IDC. All this under a fairly cloudy sky with the sun trying to break through. Current temp at 8am local time is 26.3C

Relaxing at Choengmon beach with a swing hanging on a tree trunk, there are reasons this beach is our favorite beach on Koh Samui, besides that it's around the corner of where we live.

Yesterday saw a dry day again over Koh Samui and it was partially cloudy with the sun breaking through at times around the island. Max temp reached 33C

The forecast is is on the up again, less clouds but still with a nice breeze and possibly a very strong wind come Monday and Tuesday but with a lot less rain and at the weekend of 23rd July it should be really nice again and the sun should be out in full force. Enjoy!

Today's weather;

It's cloudy over Koh Samui this morning but a weak sun is trying to get things going accompanied with a nice breeze. The forecast is predicting clouds and rain for today though but that has not been too accurate lately and the sun overwon the clouds a few times the past few days. Current temp at 7am is 28C

Yesterday afternoon I arrived back at Panagsama beach near Moalboal in the Philippines and it's cloudy here with a short period of drizzle just moving on and starting again. Current temp at 8am local time is 25.2C

Today I will start a PADI IDC Staff Instructor course and tomorrow I will start the PADI IDC for July 2016 in Moalboal.

Roof construction going on at the 'Bot' at Wat PLai Laem or Wat Suwannaram, not a job I would like to do at that height and with the steepness of the roof. Impressive job in my humble opinion

Yesterday saw a nice day around Koh Samui, especially during the morning. The afternoon saw some light rain around the northern shores of the island, Max temp reached 33C

Back at Panagsama beach near Moalboal in the Philippines and what better way to show it than with a picture of the basket ball hoop at hte local basket ball court, the favorite sport in the Philippines by a long shot

The forecast for the next ten days around Koh Samui is looking straightforward, until Frday clouds with a breeze and some tropical showers and as the weekend starts it should be less cloudy or partially cloudy with a breeze and some tropical showers passing by.

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 8th December, 2015

Today's weather;

It's cloudy over Koh Samui's sky this morning but it's dry and a very weak sun is trying to make an impression. I do expect some rain today though. Current temp at 7am is 27C

Am on my last day at Panagsama beach near Moalboal in the Philippines, in an hour so I will be on my way to Cebu City and 4 days of travel will start, with a trip to Malapascua in the cards and ending in Bangkok this Friday.

It's beautiful here with a nice blue sky laced with some scattered clouds and a current temp at 8am local time of 27C

Yesterday saw a lot of rain and some thunderstorms around Koh Samui with a max temp of 30C

There are not as many as in Thailand, like on almost every street corner, but 7-11 shops can be found around the Philippines as well, like this one in Moalboal.

The forecast is still looking good, as of tomorrow we should have sunnier days with a lot less rain, leading into next weekend. Enjoy it! Slowly the monsoon or rainy season is about to back off.

Today's weather;

It's cloudy but dry at the moment over Koh Samui with some rain possibly coming up later today. Current temp at 7am is a cool 25C

Yesterday saw some rain rain around Koh Samui but it didn't rain all day long. The monsoon is weakening. Max temp reached 32C

The forecast predicts rain for today and as of tomorrow progressively the amount of rain should decrease each day until we have a stretch of dry and sunny days starting around Wednesday.

Today's weather;

It's partially cloudy around Koh Samui with currently a shy sun peeking through but the roads are still wet from the rain from last night and yesterday. Current temp at 7am is 27C

At Panagsama beach near Moalboal in the Philippines we have a nice blue, early morning sky which most likely will be followed by more clouds during the afternoon but no rain. That's how the weather was during the recent couple of days. Current temp at 8am is 27C

Yesterday saw a dry start of the day around Koh Samui but soon the rain moved in and pretty much stayed around all day and most of the night. Max temp reached 29C

The forecast didn't change too much, some wind and rain until Tuesday and from Wednesday onward it should become nice and sunny and hardly any rain for a couple of days.

It's partially cloudy over Koh Samui but the sun is out and about and it looks like it's going to be a nice and sunny day with maybe a quick tropical shower at some parts of the island. Current temp at 7am is 27C

At Panagsama beach near Moalboal in the Philippines, we have a nice blue sky again for a chance after a couple of fairly and sometimes slightly wet days. Current temp at 8am local time is 29C

Yesterday the PADI IE was very successfully completed by our PADI IDC candidates here in Moalboal.

Flags are being erected around the country in honor of HM King Bhumibol's birthday tomorrow, the yellow flag is the flag with the Royal emblem; The King's flag is in yellow, the color of Monday, the day of his birth and is usually alternated with a Thai flag. For the second day in a row it's nice and sunny in the morning around Koh Samui, with just a few clouds in the sky and it should stay like this all day long day. Current temp at 7am is 26C

At Panagsama beach near Moalboal in the Philippines we have a cloudy sky and we already had some rain and drizzle during the morning. Current temp at 8am local is 26C

Yesterday's PADI IE went very well for our candidates, they passed with flying colors two of the four exam parts. Today will see the completion of the exams with the last two parts of the exams.

Yesterday saw a very nice start of the day around Koh Samui with some thunderstorms thrown in later during the day. Max temp reached 31C

The forecast changed a little bit again and is not as optimistic anymore as it was yesterday. A bit more win and rain over the weekend is predicted but after the weekend we slowly drift into sunnier days again.
