Welcome to November 2017

It's the first day of this new month and here we go; Welcome to November 2017.

Today is very cloudy and a fair wind is starting to blow, increasing in strength throughout the day. Later during the day rain is expected to start come down and it's supposed to continue  to rain pretty much until and throughout Saturday. At 7am the current temperature is 28.2C

November is when the monsoon starts and it can get very wet around the island, with all associated issues that come along with this, like floods and power cuts, just to name a few.

Last year saw a nice November, with plenty of sun but also enough rain but the year before, 2015, saw almost non stop rain.

The forecast is not looking too good for the first week with some strong winds coming in over the next couple of days and plenty of rain.

Welcome to November 2017; Samui hot club, a clothes shop now located in the South of the island in Lipa Noi but it used to be smack down in the middle of Chaweng. Now it's about 10 minutes outside of Nathon if you drive direction Lamai.

We will also see Loy Kratong on Friday 3rd November, the very popular festivity around Thailand where you put a float in water. On Koh Samui typically at Wat Plai Laem or Chaweng lake. It will be my third year in total that I will celebrate this in Khao Lak.

Welcome to November 2017; The harbor in Thap Lamu where all the day trips and live aboard boats to the Similan islands, Koh Tachai, Koh Bon, Richelieu Rock and the Burma banks leave. The pier offers more space to bigger boats than is just shown on the picture. Local fisherman also use this and other piers and the Thai Navy has their own pier just a few hundred meters away.

The first week of this month I will spend in Khao Lak and a day on Phuket and two weeks will be spend in Moalboal in the Philippines, which leaves little time at home. The weekly updates and any other interesting island developments or events will be resported about, as always.

If you're done resting or need something else to do, there's plenty of things on offer on and around Koh Samui, you can go snorkeling or diving or take a dive course. You can also enjoy some of the trips I recommend, like a half day gourmet lunch and snorkeling trip at the Southern part of Koh Samui or a photography trip where you get to see the most photo genetic spots on the island or go for a drinks tasting tour if you like a tipple or two.

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 18th November, 2015

Today's weather;

Koh Samui is under a big cloud and it's raining hard with some fairly strong wind blowing in. It may get better later today but thee's also a chance of more rain. Current temp at 7am is 28C

Within half an hour I will leave Khao Lak and I will be on my back home to Koh Samui, where I will leave again come Friday evening, for a PADI IDC in Moalboal in the Philippines.

In the meantime however, back in Khao Lak, it's partially cloudy with quite a few clouds in the sky. Current temp at 7am is 25C

Yesterday saw a pleasant and sunny day around Koh Samui with a max temp of 32C but last night there was a lot of thunder and lightning going on and it may have rained in parts of the island.

The forecast predicts rain for tonight and tomorrow morning after which you can expect a mixed bag of sunny moments followed by rain followed by sunny moments followed by rain etc.

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 13th November, 2015

Today's weather;

It's partially cloudy this morning but the sun is working hard to break through and there are sunny patches around Koh Samui at this moment. There may be rain during the morning but the afternoon should be dry. Current temp at 7am is 26C

In Khao Lak, the PADI IE is about to start for my current PADI IDC candidates, so for today and tomorrow they will be busy! We also have a partially cloudy sky with big blue and sunny patches in it. Current temp at 7am is 25C and since two day's it has been dry again!

Yesterday saw a mixed bag around Koh Samui, with sunny moments but also rain. During the night it rained almost all night long, again. Max temp reached 30C

The forecast is looking good for the next couple of days, until Wednesday there should be hardly any rain and plenty of sunshine. After Wednesday it still may b sunny but you may expect also some showers again.

Today's weather;

The sky over Koh Samui this morning seems to be typical and in line with recent days. It's partially cloudy and the sun is out for a bit, but later today rain is expected. Current temp at 7am is 27C

Here in Khao Lak we have very similar weather conditions, thin cloud layers with big blue pockets. During the afternoons we tend to have rain though. Current temp at 7am is 25C

Yesterday saw a very similar day as the recent days around Koh Samui, a nice morning with the sun being out but during the afternoon and all night long there was rain. Max temp reached 31C

The forecast has changed ever so slightly again and except for Sunday and Monday, when heavy cloud layers are expected, all other days in the next ten days, should have sunshine and a chance of tropical showers, but less rain compared to yesterday's ten day forecast.

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 10th April, 2015

Today's weather;

The sky over Koh Samui is looking blue and sunny again. Current temp at 7am is 28.7C

Back in Khao Lak we also have sunny skies and another hot day ahead of us. Current temp at 7am is 25C

We're on a dive boat on a day trip to the Similan islands for the PADI Instructor Specialty for deep diving, after the successful completion of the PADI IE yesterday.

Yesterday saw once more a very warm day around Koh Samui with a max temp of 33C

The forecast did change overnight. More cloud cover is expected from the weekend onward with some strong wind and hard rain on Tuesday but by Thursday we should have sunnier skies again.

Today's weather;

Once more a hot and sunny day is in the making around Koh Samui. Current temp at 7am is already a stunning 29.3C

Here in Khao Lak we have a bit of a hazy sky but hardly any clouds in it. It's looking like there's a hot day ahead of us here as well. Current temp at 7am is 25.4C

Yesterday saw another very typical April day around Koh Samui, with hot and sunny weather. The max temp rose to 33.5C

The forecast didn't change much; sunny and hot days ahead of us for the next seven days, with possibly some more clouds come Friday and after next weekend.

Today's weather;

Koh Samui enjoys a thin cloud layer and it looks that we may have some sunshine today. Current temp at 7am is 25.1C

It's good to be back home again and spend time with the family before I take off again this coming Monday, Moalboal, Philippines bound.

Today's weather;

It's nice and sunny around Koh Samui this morning although there are also some clouds out an about. A good moment to dry everything again! Current temp at 7am is 27.5C

In Khao Lak we have a cloudy sky with just a few blue spots. Current temp at 7am is 25.1C

Yesterday saw a dry day around Samui with a max temp of 31C

Khao Lak saw for a change some hard rain during the late afternoon/early evening. Max temp reached 32C

The forecast predicts cloudy days with some rain until Monday and after that it may be a bit sunnier and less wet!

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 16th April, 2014

Today's weather;

A nice blue sky is shaping up around Koh Samui and it looks like a warm day is in the making. Current temp at 7am is 26.3C

In Khao Lak a near perfect blue sky is shaping up with a current temp of 25.5C at 7am. Yesterday was partly cloudy during the afternoon with some around around 11pm.

The Songkran road madness is not over yet, the fourth day of the seven 'dangerous Songkran holidays' saw 488 road accidents, killing 43 people and injuring 502 others, the The Road Safety Directing Center announced Tuesday. This bring the total death toll to 204 and the accumulated figure of injuries rose to 2,142. The majority of accidents was caused by drunk driving.
This does not include any figures of people who succumbed from their injuries away from the accident scene. If you survive the accident but die later in a hospital, you're not in these statistics, making the real number of the death toll even hihgher.

Yesterday saw a very hot and dry day around our part of the island but there were thunderstorms at other parts and there may have been some rain. Max temp reached 34C

The forecast predicts mostly nice and sunny skies although this morning there may be  few thunderstorms around the island.

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 30th November, 2013

Today's weather;

The wind has picked up on Koh Samui and it's cloudy at the moment with not too many blue parts in the sky. There may be a bit of rain later today but if so, it shouldn't be a lot. Current temp at 7am is 27C

In Khao Lak we just had a quick and strong shower but now it's a mixed bag, some dark clouds to the right but blue sky is coming up as well, with accompanying sunshine. Current temp at 7am is 23.7C

Yesterday the PADI IE in Khao Lak was very successfully completed by my candidates and everyone was happy after the hard work they put in!

Yesterday saw a fairly sunny day around Koh Samui with at some locations possibly a bit of rain and a thunderstorm around 9am and during the night almost non stop rain. Max temp reached 30C

In Khao Lak we had mostly a bit of sunshine in a fairly cloudy sky with a tiny bit of rain once during the daytime and a shower in the early evening.

The forecast shows an increase in wind as of today for the next 7 days with occasionally showers but not too much at this moment. The next two days might also have some sunshine.

Today's weather;

There's still a little bit of sunshine to enjoy around Koh Samui this morning but there are also plenty of clouds and I do expect rain later during the day. Current temp at 7am is 25.4C

In Khao Lak it's cloudy over land and the closer you get to the ocean or even better, over the ocean, there are more sunny spots and patches in the sky. Current temp at 7am is 24C

We finished the current, November 2013 PADI IDC here yesterday and today will see the start of their exams, the PADI IE.

Yesterday saw a mostly dry day around Samui with maybe here and there an occasional shower. Max temp reached 31C

In Khao Lak we had a gorgeous start of the day with blue skies all around. Unfortunately this got replaced with clouds and plenty of rain, at times even very hard rain.

The forecast for Samui looks lightly better, rain is predicted today with the wind picking up a bit but come Saturday the rain should stop and after that it will most likely be cloudy but not with as much rain as previously predicted.

Today's weather;

It's raining this morning on Koh Samui, not very hard but it's wet again. Current temp at 7am is 27.2C

In Khao Lak it's partially sunny, blue areas are surrounded by fluffy white clouds, it looks like it's going to be hot here. Current temp at 7am is 23.4C

Yesterday the PADI IDC in Khao Lak was completed and tomorrow the PADI IE for my candidates will start.

Yesterday saw a nice day around Koh Samui, partially clouded but dry. Max temp reached 30.5C
