Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 24th July – 30th July, 2017

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 24th July – 30th July, 2017

It's Sunday morning and time for the Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 24th July – 30th July, 2017. This morning it has been partially cloudy and there has been a slight wind blowing. Current temp at 10am is 30C but it might become slightly warmer.

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 24th July – 30th July, 2017

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 24th July – 30th July, 2017; Walking street at Ban Bang Kao. The walking street is located at the local beach. You can buy lots of food on offer and borrow blankets to sit on the sand, relax, drink and eat. Very cosy and enjoyable. A bit far away but popular with the local Samui and Thai folk as well as Westerners and tourists.
The walking street event is held here every Saturday evening.

Last week was not that great. From Tuesday through to Friday we had rain each day, although not necessarily a lot, more like tropical showers. On the other hand, it does cool things down a bit, since once the sun is out, it gets hot and warm rather quickly!
Maximum temperatures ranged between 31C and 34C

For next week the strong week is to stay on, some days a bit stronger, other days a bit less strong. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday have currently tropical showers scheduled, other days may get slightly wet as well. According to the forecast there should be not too much sun but I do expect plenty of partially clouded skies, which means there should be sun at times as well.

Please do 'like' my Koh Samui blog Facebook page and enjoy the beaches around the island or in front of your hotel or resort and get some well deserved rest and a break. If you're done resting or need something else to do, there's plenty of things on offer on and around Koh Samui, you can go snorkeling or diving or take a dive course. You can also enjoy some of the trips I recommend, like a half day gourmet lunch and snorkeling trip at the Southern part of Koh Samui or a photography trip where you get to see the most photo genetic spots on the island or go for a drinks tasting tour if you like a tipple or two.

Today's weather;

It's a bit of a mixed bag this morning over Koh Samui, plenty of clouds, including big ones combined with a few blue spots and the wind has picked up. I expect more clouds today and it should stay dry. Current temp at 7am is 27.4C

The forecast has changed again a bit and unfortunately not for the better. The next ten days should be mostly cloudy with an increase in wind blowing in and Thursday may see some hard late afternoon rain. After the weekend the ind should increase even a bit more and as of next Tuesday we may see a fair bit of rain.

The remains of a truck, used for transporting coconuts, at the lovely Ban Bang Khao area of Southern Koh Samui. This part of the island is well worth a visit. Here you can still find quiet beaches and tranquility, more in the veins of the original Koh Samui.

Yesterday started out with a cloudy sky but during the morning the sun got the upper hand and it became very sunny and warm. Max temp reached 33C

The forecast predicts cloudy skies for the next ten days with an occasional shower. Let's hope we get to see some good old sunshine during this period as well.

One of the unexpected encounters you can have on Koh Samui's roads, a water buffalo! This one I encountered in Ban Bang Khao near the beach

Yesterday saw a cloudy day all day long, although the sun peeked through the cloud cover a few times before noon. It stayed dry in our North Eastern corner of the island but other parts of Koh Samui may have experienced some rain. Max temp reached 30.6C

The forecast looks worse as of this morning, with even stronger wind next week between Tuesday and Friday. Come next weekend the wind should disappear but there's always the chance of encountering a tropical shower.

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 17th April, 2015

Today's weather;

A lovely and beautiful blue sky is shaping up over Koh Samui. There are a few scattered clouds but it looks like a hot day is in the making. Current temp at 7am is 26C

It seems the culprit for the Koh Samui bomb attack might have been found as one of the suspected security guards.

The last day of the 'deadly seven Songkran days' saw 58 killed on the last day and 306 over seven days. Now it's back to normal, which apparently is even worse with some 500 and a few more deaths per week in average.

One of the less visited and utterly non commercial/untouched beaches in the South of the island near Ban Bang Kao

Yesterday saw a sunny day around Koh Samui with a max temp of 32.7C No rain in sight!

Ban Bang Kao

Samui old style near Ban Bang Kao, on the way to Sweet Sisters Cafe

We're on our last day in Khao Sok and it looks lovely here as well, with plenty of blue in the sky, chirping birds and mist still hanging in the mountains. Current temp at 7am is 24C
Later this morning we will make our way back to Koh Samui with a stop in Surat Thani for lunch.

Khao Sok river, at the bridge, a great place for a swim and the start off point for many tube and kayaking trips

Yesterday saw a mostly cloudy day around Samui with a bit of rain. Max temp reached 32.8C

The forecast is easing up, a couple of days easy on the wind, by mid next week that should slowly pick up again with some stronger wind possibly in the weekend. Be prepared for an occasional shower.

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 16th December, 2013

Today's weather;

The sky over Koh Samui is very blue with just an occasional cloud floating by. It looks like a nice and warm day is ahead of us. Current temp at 7am is 25.7C

Sweet Sisters Café

The cozy and inviting interior of the Sweet Sisters Café in Ban Bang Kao

Yesterday saw occasionally a glimpse of the sun but it remained mostly cloudy but dry all day long. Max temp reached 31C

The forecast had a drastic change, Tuesday the wind will still pick but the predicted stormy day is gone and all rain had pretty much disappeared from the predictions until Monday next week besides a few drops later today or tomorrow. That sounds promising and is this the end of this year's rainy season?

Sweet Sisters Café, Ban Bang Kao

Sweet Sisters Café, Ban Bang Kao

After having seen and met the sisters of the Sweet Sisters Café, Ban Bang Kao at the recent Samui Green Market in Chaweng and having read their reviews on Trip Advisor, I was looking for an opportunity to visit them and try out their food.

Sweet Sisters Café, Ban Bang Kao

Sweet Sisters Café, Ban Bang Kao; Their signage

Unfortunately they're not located near the busy touristy part of the island but rather in a fairly remote area named Ban Bang Kao, where the roads 4170 and 4173 meet and they're right there, near a 4 road intersection. See on a map here. The rum distillery in Ban Thale is not far away, on the same 4170 road, of which they have rum for sale by the way.

Sweet Sisters Café, Ban Bang Kao

Sweet Sisters Café, Ban Bang Kao; The entrance

This morning a great opportunity presented itself, when we had to go to the Ford garage to have our car checked for the half yearly maintenance check up. This happens to be not too far away and after a two and a half hour car check, we were hungry and ready for the Sweet Sisters Café, where we arrived shortly after noon.

Sweet Sisters Café, Ban Bang Kao

Sweet Sisters Café, Ban Bang Kao; The daily specials menu

First impressions do count and our first impressions were positive. The café radiates a warm feeling and the interior is warm and looks inviting, There are games for children and comfortable tables with chairs to sit at and plenty of interesting and relaxing eye catching things on the walls, like paintings for sale which fitted right into the atmosphere and a shelf with grains and other food items for sale.

Sweet Sisters Café, Ban Bang Kao

Sweet Sisters Café, Ban Bang Kao; Bruchetta with rice crackers

All the produce used is either grown by themselves or bought from local farmers or bought on the local markets, as long as it's natural and organic. It may come as no surprise that no MSG is used no any other chemical enhancing agents, white sugar or polished rice. Diary is also not used unless mentioned in the menu and there are various gluten free foods as well.

Sweet Sisters Café, Ban Bang Kao

Sweet Sisters Café, Ban Bang Kao; Some of the mains we had, baked brown rice with cashew nuts and pineapple, a pumpkin soup and laab tofu

The menu is not too big but just big enough to make you think about what you want with some good and interesting choices and the prices seem to be all right. The menu holds some interesting fusion dishes and I'm already looking forward to our next visit so I can order new and different items from the menu.

Sweet Sisters Café, Ban Bang Kao

Sweet Sisters Café, Ban Bang Kao; My main, quinoa with avocado salad

The food was good and tasty and for the first time in my life I ate quinoa and I found it tasty and will try it again, when I have the opportunity. The pumpkin soup was delicious and so was the laab with tofu and baked brown rice! As a desert I managed to finish off a delicious organic cashew nut cake. We had a terrific meal and were fully satisfied and full!

Sweet Sisters Café, Ban Bang Kao

Sweet Sisters Café, Ban Bang Kao; Various kinds of food, grains, nuts and the like are for sale

My wife bought some fresh bananas, straight off a trunk from a tree, which you can see hiding in the left corner on the picture below and some fresh farm eggs (there were also fresh duck eggs straight off the farm), it's always worthwhile checking what's available, I would expect that to have daily changes.

Sweet Sisters Café, Ban Bang Kao

Sweet Sisters Café, Ban Bang Kao; Various enamel items for sale, like old style Thai food containers and cups

Their opening times are between 11am and 9pm and they're open all week long. For more information call them on 08 6470 8631 or 08 1892 1922 or check their Facebook page.
Great job Noiy, the older sister and the chef. Unfortunately I didn't catch the name of the younger sister  and of Noiy's daughter, who are both very pleasant and give an excellent service. One more reason to go back and find out!
