Goodbye to January 2018

Goodbye to January 2018

It's 31st day of this month and time to say Goodbye to January 2018. After having missed the December 2017 Goodbye blog, we're back on track.
It's nice and fairly sunny under a partially clouded sky with a current temp of 30.1C at 10am.

The weather this month wasn't that great. 12 out of the 31 days saw rain and we had some really hard rain early on in the month. There were also a few days with flash floods, but the flash floods never lasted too long.
A mediocre to average January an d nothing like it was one year ago, when Koh Samui endured some serious long and hard rain with lots of flash floods.
Maximum temperatures ranged from 28C to 33C.

Especially the last couple of days were nice and a bit of an idea of what February most likely is going to be. It's also becoming warmer again, little by little, day by day.

The forecast for next month is a few days including the weekend might see a little bit of rain but in general it should clear up after that and be nice and enjoyable with plenty of sun.

Please do 'like' my Koh Samui blog Facebook page and enjoy the beaches around the island or in front of your hotel or resort and get some well deserved rest and a break. If you're done resting or need something else to do, there's plenty of things on offer on and around Koh Samui, you can go snorkeling or diving or take a dive course. You can also enjoy some of the trips I recommend, like a half day gourmet lunch and snorkeling trip at the Southern part of Koh Samui or a photography trip where you get to see the most photo genetic spots on the island or go for a drinks tasting tour if you like a tipple or two.

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 22nd January – 28th January, 2018

Sunday morning and time for the Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 22nd January – 28th January, 2018.
It's partially cloudy  to cloudy this morning although very early in the morning the sun was out and about for a short while and it's trying a comeback right now. Current temperature at 10am is already 31.1C. Slowly but steadily it's becoming warmer on our island and the cooler rainy season weather is slowly disappearing.
Don't forget to visit the Samui Green Market today, at Boutique resort the Elysee at Fisherman's Village, start around 3pm.

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 22nd January – 28th January, 2018; The old road crossing in Nathon where immigration used to be is turning into a roundabout. Now if all Koh Samui drivers would know how to drive on a roundabout! It's really fairly easy, if you're on the roundabout you have right of way.

Last week saw a fair amount of rain. Only Tuesday stayed dry and maximum temperatures ranged from 29 to 31C.
Mostly we had sunny mornings with clouds moving in over lunch time, around noon. The afternoons could see some hard rain at times, although most of the time fairly short.

The forecast for next week is looking good. We're slowly moving into February which always seems to be a very agreeable month on Koh Samui. Next weeks weather is reflecting that, possibly some rain come Wednesday and Thursday but also plenty of sunshine. Especially towards the weekend.
Enjoy the remainder of this month!

Last week saw a fairly nice week over Koh Samui, with mostly partially clouded skies and some sunshine and just two days of rain. After a few years I found myself back in Ao Nang for two days, the duration of a PADI IE (instructor exam for scuba instructors) which I visited with two of my PADI IDC candidates from the January PADI IDC on Koh Lanta.

The forecast for next week is looking good. From Wednesday onward a little bit of wind and occasionally the chance of a tropical shower. During the beginning of the week is the best time to see the sun come out and work on your tan.
