The Bot is the temple's most important building and this particular building is completely painted white, which looks kind of spectacular and impressive.

Monday and Tuesday I was diving from Phuket, to finish off PADI Specialty Instructor training with Glenn, one of my recent PADI IDC candidates on the May Phuket IDC who was also successful during the recent May PADI IE on Phuket.
A picture of our dives can be seen below.

The forecast for next week is looking good. May will soon come to an end, only two more days to go. Most days of next week it will be partially cloudy with an occasional tropical shower and possibly some stronger wind come next weekend.

Please do 'like' my Koh Samui blog Facebook page and enjoy the beaches around the island or in front of your hotel or resort and get some well deserved rest and a break. If you're done resting or need something else to do, there's plenty of things on offer on and around Koh Samui, you can go snorkeling or diving or take a dive course. You can also enjoy some of the trips I recommend, like a half day gourmet lunch and snorkeling trip at the Southern part of Koh Samui or a photography trip where you get to see the most photo genetic spots on the island or go for a drinks tasting tour if you like a tipple or two.

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 15th – 21st May, 2017

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 15th – 21st May, 2017

It's Sunday and time for the Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 15th – 21st May, 2017.
We're already at the late afternoon part of the day and it's partially cloudy with sometimes the feel of rain coming up. Current temp at 5.30pm is 32C and it's humid!

Currently I'm still a few more days on Phuket, before I return to Koh Samui on Wednesday. The candidates of the May 2017 PADI IDC on Phuket in conjunction with PADI CDC Center 'Dive Asia' just completed their PADI IE exam and are now brand new PADI Instructors!

Weather wise it was less glorious last week with plenty of rain and wind here, currently it's mostly cloudy with a temp of 30.7C at 5.30pm

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 15th – 21st May, 2017; Cable spaghetti in Chaweng. These are phone cables and not electricity, however, they still can cause problems. A few days prior they caught fire and caused a real 'mini' hassle! This was at the beginning of the month.

Last week was a very typical May week around Koh Samui, with a couple of dry and sunny days with partial cloud cover but there were also a couple of days with thunder storms and rain. Max temperatures ranged in between 32 and 34C.

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 15th – 21st May, 2017; Phuket 'old' town, at the corner of Thalang Road and Soi Romannee. In this soi you can find the best ice cream parlor of Phuket, in my humble opinion.

The forecast for next week is looking good, a lot better than previous weeks of this this month. Hardly any rain, a few isolated tropical showers, no wind and partially clouded skies. It seems like it will be a good week for a May on Koh Samui. Go out and enjoy!

We're going to have a look at the Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 8th - 14th May, 2017.
First we're going to have a look at today's weather though and it's fairly cloudy but the sun is peeking out a bit. Current temp at 7.30am is 26C although it feels a bit warmer, but it's most likely not going to be as warm as yesterday.

Currently I'm on Phuket, conducting the May 2017 PADI IDC, and the weather here is much worse. Since my arrival there was plenty of rain and only yesterday and the day before saw the sun come back out again. Next week is supposedly going to be a very wet week here! Current temp today is 26.5C under a fairly sunny sky.

Welcome to May 2017

Welcome to May 2017

It's Mayday and a good opportunity to say Welcome to May 2017. The month of May usually carries over part of the nice and sunny April weather, without the heat of April though.
Last year we had a rough ending of the month of May with strong winds but the previous three year were lovely.
May can also bring plenty of rain, which cools things down a little bit, something we can use after the last three scorching hot April weeks. Rain is mostly in the form of tropical showers, short but hard, but can also be a bit longer in some rare cases.

The forecast for the first May week this year is looking good though. Towards next weekend expect plenty of cloud cover though.

Welcome to May 2017

Welcome to May 2017; A suspended bridge at the end of Soi 5 in Maenam, near a nice and big waterfall, the Tan Rua waterfall. There's a platform and a restaurant for some snacks and cold drinks. Zip lines are also available for some added excitement

There are also a few events to look forward to this month. The Samui bike weekend is this coming weekend at Chaweng lake, the Samui Regatta will be held between 20th and 27th May and 28th May will see the mini marathon or 10km race in Nathon.

I do hope you will enjoy this May month on Koh Samui and do keep checking in for updates on weather and things to do around our lovely Koh Samui.
