It's mostly cloudy but dry around Koh Samui this morning. Current temp at 7am is 25.5C

It's my last day here in Indonesia for this trip and I just got my race report up of my stay at Tosari and the Bromo half marathon.

Yesterday saw rain around the island but not as much as the previous day. Max temp reached 28.7C

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 3rd September, 2014

Today's weather;

It's partly cloudy this morning on Koh Samui, it looks like there may be some sunshine later today. Current temp at 6.30am is 26C

This morning I find myself back at Ngurah Rai airport in Denpasar on Bali, Indonesia, waiting for my delayed flight from 7am to 8.40am, to Surabaya. This gives me time to write my blog entries earlier than expected today! It's partly clouded here with a current temp of 22C at 7.30am local time.

The Mount Bromo half marathon is getting real close by now, this Sunday it will be show time!

Mr. Tekkor in 2005, anybody remember this small eatery in Chaweng, behind the Green Mango? It was one of my faves back in the day but now long gone, unfortunately.

The forecast has a drastic change for the weekend, from Friday night onward it will be stormy, especially during Saturday but come Sunday it should be calm and nicer again, Monday might see sunshine again.

Today's weather;

Koh Samui is enjoying a nice day with blue skies. Current temp at 1pm is 33C

After a very early start of the day at 4am in Bangkok, I arrived safely on Bali in Indonesia and will transfer tomorrow over to Gili Air to start once more a PADI IDC there. Bali also enjoys blue skies and the current temp here at 2pm is 28C

We're on our last couple of hours in Indonesia for this trip. AT noon we will take off for Don Muang in Bangkok. In the meantime, we also have a fairly cloudy sky over Bali! Current temp at 8am local time is 25C

Koh Samui is partly cloudy this morning and it's looking like another hot one is in the making. Current temp at 7am is 28.7C

Here on Bali we have a very blue sky and it's currently 27C at 8am local time.

It was a very early rise, with the alarm set for 3.30am but now the whole family arrived safe and well on Bali around noon after an event-less flight from Don Muang in Bangkok. Current temp here on Bali at 3pm local time is 31C under a blue sky!

This morning it was mostly cloudy around Koh Samui but it's very hot and humid. Current temp at 1pm is 32.9C

Food on Wheels; Indonesian snack time!

Whilst in Indonesia, what better time to show some variations on the Food on Wheels series? During my current stay I found some samples of new variations on the same old theme!

Above is a push cart with processed deep fried meat balls. The push carts are not found that much more in Thailand, there it's almost exclusively motorbikes that carry around the food goodies.

It makes for some nice and new pictures with a different slant on the usual standard pictures. It's a nice change to see something different.

The more people are around in this part of the world, the more likely food will be there! Food on Wheels! This morning it was packed on the back at around 6am and plenty of food options available, just for your convenience.

Today's weather;

The sky over Koh Samui is beautifully blue with hardly any clouds around. It's going to be a hot one today! Current temp at 7am is 24C

I'm in Bali, Indonesia for two nights and this morning the sky is blue with a little bit of  haze. Current temp at 9am local time is 29C

Tomorrow I'm heading back home to Koh Samui where  should arrive in the early evening.

I find myself back in Bali, after a very early start today in Bangkok. Tomorrow I will be on my way over to Gili Air, where I will start an IDC on 21st February.
In Sanur it's cloudy and it just rained, current temp at noon local time is 24C

Today's weather;

It's partially cloudy over Koh Samui with the sun about to break through. Current temp at 7am is around 23C

In Sanur on Bali, Indonesia it's partially cloudy with the sun peeking out already and a current temp at 8am local time of 28C. 

All the PADI IE candidates are out on the beach for the last part of their exam, the open water dive whilst I will be boarding a plane Bangkok bound around noon. Hopefully I will be able to make it from Don Muang airport to Suvarnabhumi airport without problems.

Goodbye to January 2014

The first month of 2014 is ready to be archived. Time flies indeed! It was a busy month for me with a not so great ending, during which I got sick for the first time in 11 years during a course. I had two PADI IDC programs scheduled this month, one on Koh Lanta in Thailand and one on Gili Air in Indonesia, which only saw me on Koh Samui for the first two days of the year and some 5 hours on the 16th January, in-between travel.

The weather on Koh Samui has not been the best, the beginning of the year saw a bit of wind and rain and it wasn't until recently when the weather turned for the better again with sunny days. January has been better in the past couple of years.

It's been hectic and now I find myself on Bali in Indonesia for a PADI IE and on the 2nd February I will head home, just hoping that I can make it back to Samui, despite the Chinese New year frenzy and the elections in Bangkok with all potential problems.

Once back on Samui, I can't wait to be reunited with my family for about two weeks and visit Kobori, a new Japanese restaurant in Maenam, that just opened a few days ago.

It's Chinese New Year today, one of the three New Year's we celebrate in Thailand.

In Sanur, Bali in Indonesia it was cloudy and there was some rain early this morning but now the sun is breaking through. Current temp at 8am local time is 26C

Today the PADI IE is about to kick off later this afternoon.

Last night I arrived back on Gili Air in Indonesia, this morning it's very cloudy and rain is in the air. They're in the middle of the rainy season here. Last night there were some hard showers. Current temp at 8am local time is 27C

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 17th January, 2014

Today's weather;

Second day in a row on the road, hence a very late update today. Today it's sunny ans warm around Koh Samui. Current temp at noon is around 19C

In the meantime, I landed safely on Bali where I'm waiting now for my connecting flight to Lombok, where a taxi and a short boat ride are waiting for me before I arrive on Gili Air. Current temp at 1pm is 25C
Tomorrow morning will see the start of a new PADI IDC, the second already this year!

Yesterday saw mostly a cloudy day, all the way during my dive from Koh Lanta up to Samui. Max temp reached 29C

The forecast predicts an increase in wind for tomorrow, but it should stay fairly cloudless but come next weekend, some serious clouds may move in.

The sky over Koh Samui shows a few more clouds this morning but it still looks liek a warm day is in the making. Current temp at 6am is 27C

Yesterday I left Gili Air in Indonesia and took a fast boat over to Bali where I find myself this morning in Sanur under a nice blue sky and a current temp at 7am local time of 28C

Around noon my flight to Bangkok will take off and very late during the evening I should find myself back on Samui.

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 19th October, 2013

Today's weather;

At last, back in action again. Thursday night I managed to crack the my laptop screen at the Amari Don Muang hotel and it isn't until now, after I arrived on Gili Air that I have access to internet and a screen. Tomorrow my lcd screen should be fixed and all should be back to normal, whatever that means!

Now on to the weather, Koh Samui has a cloudy sky all day long already and there were a few showers today. Current temp at 2pm is 25.5C

On Gili Air it's cloudy but dry and the current temp at 3pm local time is 32C

Yesterday there was a fair bit of rain on Koh Samui with a max temp of 32C.

On Bali there was a blue sky sky all day long yesterday and it was hot! Max temp reached 33C

Thursday I spent almost all day in Bangkok and except for a short shower shortly after leaving Suvarnabhumi airport it was cloudy but dry all day long.

On Koh Samui it's cloudy and although it looks like more rain, the clouds should move on later today.  Current temp at 7am is 26C

In the meantime, here in Indonesia, on Bali, I'm on my last couple of hours for this trip, at noon local time my flight to Bangkok is scheduled for departure. It's nice and sunny with a few clouds and current temp at 8am local time of 27C

Yesterday saw a lot of rain around Koh Samui, almost all day long and a good 33mm of rain came down. Max temp reached 31.5C

The forecast is on the up again though and most of the clouds should evaporate today and make place for more sunny days again.

Food on Wheels; Nasi Goreng in Sanur on Bali, Indonesia

It's my last day of my current stay in Indonesia, until August most likely and what better way to say goodbye with an addition to the Food on Wheels series. Posts from Indonesia have already been added before, but also from the Philippines and South Korea, proving that the Asian food culture differs from the Western food culture by means of so many more and the variety of street vendors.

The vendor was a very friendly person who seemed to take very good care of his customers and with a good sense of humor. He pulls his cart through the Sanur nights on Bali and sells Nasi Goreng. 'Nasi' means rice in Baha Indonesia and 'Goreng' means fried. In Thai it would be a Khao Pad. 'Mie' or noodles are also on the menu.

It's intriguing how many of these carts are pushed and/or pulled through the Indonesian city nights and how the vendors manage to make money out of it and stay as upbeat as this guy is.

This night I also saw a few even smaller carts selling 'Sateh' and mostly with 'Ayam' or chicken but I haven't seen one selling my fave meat; 'Kambing' or goat, yet! Something to keep an eye out for.
