Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 8th April, 2011

Today's weather,

Samui woke up under a blue sky and it looks like it's going to be a hot one today! Current temp at 7am is 26.5C

Yesterday saw a dry and sunny day on Samui as well and by the look of it, everything is pretty much back to normal on Samui! Max temp reached 29.3C

The information regarding the Chaweng Cove Resotel proved to be incorrect, not the whole resort is closed down until 30th June, it's actually open, only the Beachfront Pool Villa and the restaurant are closed after flooding and will remain closed during renovation until 30th of June. They will serve the food in other areas of the hotel. Sorry for any inconvenience caused by yesterday's news. Please check Elina's blog for an update on this news but also to see pictures of Samui as of yesterday and they will show you that it's all back to normal!

Tomorrow I'll be back on my to Samui again, can't wait to be back home again. Thanks to all of you out there that supported me and dropped by!

Koh Lanta ocean view

Koh Lanta also woke up under a sunny and blue sky! Current temp at 7am is 26C
The PADI IE will finish this afternoon, keep an eye out on my dive blog for an update.

Yesterday was sunny and hot on Lanta, max temp reached 31.8C

Hi camille

I have been doing alot of research on koh samui and your blog seems the best, however if I look at the following website it says that there are thunder storms for the next month please check it out and tell me your thoughts? Also is I that expensive in samui with regards to drinks and food?

The website is http://www.tmd.go.th/en/province.php?id=72

Thanks

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the heads up.

As with regards to the thunderstorms on those sites, they look at the possibility of rain or clouds with a % tagged to it, it doesn't necessarily mean that there will be rain or strong wind!

Samui is currently slightly more ex[pensive than usual with certain things but once the island is stocked up again, it should be all back to normal prices.

In general Thai food is cheaper than Western food!

hi camille,

how long till they are fully stocked? and also i see alot of pictures of koh lanta how far approximately is this from maenam beach?

Hi Mark,

Stocking up should be a matter of days.

Koh Lanta is at the Andaman Sea side or Phuket side of Thailand.

I saw you blog . We are visiting the island in early June . Do you know if Rock'ys beach resort was affected by the bad weather ?
Best wishes

Camille said...

Rocky's was not affected. By June Samui will be business as usual!

Thanks for a very quick reply .
We were going to visit the island in November but we were advised to
make our trip earlier in the year. There seems to be so much change in
the weather patterns all over the world . I hope that June was the best
time to choose for our visit .
Here in manchester UK it is 12 degrees during the day and between 3 and
4 at night .
Regards Iain

Hi Iain,

November is usually the wettest part of the year on Samui, June is good. Please have a look at my archives, about half way down the page, at you the left side, they go back 4 years. Have a look at each month towards the end there's a post that reads 'Goodbye to......', these posts will tell you how the recent month was.

Hi, just wanted to thank you for all your updates on the flood conditions! We are arriving on the 18th and found your blog to be the BEST source on line for reliable info. Can't wait for our visit! If you happen to have a hotel you'd recommend (for friends, not honeymooners) in Lamai in the range of 1500bht, would love it but know you are busy. Thanks!!
