Since a couple of years, this amazing phallus symbol has been standing erect (!) on the Ghost Road, a short cut from Bang Rak to Chaweng, easily one of the worst road on the island, many potholes etc.

It's worshipped, that's for sure, the offerings are evidence of that, the bottle of water in the front and the clothing wrapped around it.

It even has a few piercings. It's actually a sign for good luck and not indicating that this is a home for gays or something silly like that. Although I think it'll be a bit too much to call it a spirit house, in essence, it probably serves a similar function.
Thai males often times wear a small sized wooden penis around their waist, for similar reasons as this symbol has been build, good luck and being fertile.

Would it surprise you at all that my first thought was that this entry would be a report on a trek down Soi Reggae?!
Seriously, another interesting article on a quirky side of Koh Samui.
Hi Dave,
Soi Reggae is a good one!
Maybe time for you to pick up one of those small wooden good luck bringers though? He he he. ;-)
Well you noted that it had a piercing on it. On a more serious and meaningful note, maybe a condom should be placed on it too.
Dave,
Don't forget to use a condom, or in your case, a Hefty bag. (50 First Dates with Adam Sandler)
