Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 15th October, 2011

Today's weather;

It's slightly more clouded over Koh Samui this morning, with less blue parts in the sky. I don't expect rain though. Current temp at 7am is 25.6C

The situation around and in Bangkok is critical though, with 627 communities already under water and the military ready to declare a state of emergency in the capital city.
Conflicting information by the government also causes floods of confusion and the government faces growing pressure.
The collapse of a small dam in Ang Thong had 1.000 people flee 5 villages in the district.

This weekend should be crucial since the combination of run off water reaching Bangkok, more rain and high tides will set the scenario if the city will flood or stay merely dry.

Yesterday saw a dry, nice and sunny day around Samui with a max temp of 32.2C

In the morning I also received a phone call from a person at the Dutch Embassy in Bangkok, stating that there was a technical problem with my passport application and I needed to visit the Embassy again. To make a long story short, the Embassy agreed to pay for my travel expenses since the mistake was made at their end. A surprising but very fair outcome of the situation and it will see me back in Bangkok tomorrow for just one night, so I can report on the spot about the situation in the capital city, providing the plane can land at Suvarnabhumi airport!
