Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 9th Novembeer, 2010

Today's weather;

Samui is in for a fairly big one again today! Just today though! Fairly strong wind and plenty of rain and than finally it should ease up! Right now it's drizzling but plenty more is to come today. Current temp at 7am is around 25C

Koh Lanta looks rather promising, there's overcast but I do expect sunshine later today. Current temp at 7am is around 25C

Today the PADI IE is starting on Koh Lanta, check my dive blog for updates and yesterday we had a great days diving at one of Thailand's top dive sites; Hin Daeng and Hin Muang.

Yesterday saw plenty of rain during Samui's morning but the afternoon dried up and the sun actually came out for a bit but than it rained all night long including a short powercut as well. Max temp reached around 29C
Koh Lanta on the other hand started out great, even with some early sun but during the day the clouds took over and around 7pm it was raining hard for a while. Max temp reached around 29C

Thankyou Camille for your informative posts. My wife and I travel to Koh Samui on the 11th November for our honeymoon. I suspect however today will not be the end of Samui's tropical storms: have a look at the build up of weather over Vietnam, Cambodia and the South China Sea on www.sattmet.tmd.go.th We hope there is some sunshine in between storms over the next week! Regards, David

Hi David,

Thanks for your remarks and link.

Many times (most of the time actually) the depressions stay over Cambodia and Vietnam and don't reach the Gulf, so I hope for Samui's best in this case!

Aloha Camille,
thank so much for your weather updates. much more informative than the weather reports. what are the roads like right now: 2:45 p.m.) on Koh samui for travel from nathon to lamai? and for the next few hours? my husband wants to go to a muey thai class in lamai, but it will be his first time driving on koh samui roads (just arrived two days ago from Hawaii)..and i arrived in the midst of the last deluge (november 2-3rd. the road was well underwater on the trip out from your airport...i love the rain!

Hi May,

Today has been a steady trickle but I expect that most of the roads are ok to travel.

Enjoy it!

Hi Camille,

Thanks for your informative updates on the weather in Koh Samui. I'll be travelling there in early December (5th to be exact) and was wondering if it is likely that the wet weather will continue till then. Would very much appreciate your thoughts on this being a resident there and all.

Thanks!

Best regards,
Peter

Hi Peter,

Although it still may rain occasionally in early December, I wouldn't expect anything like right now or last week.

You want to check my archives which cover the last three years, they can be found on the left hand column if you scroll down.

Hi Camille. You have a great blog. My wife and I are going on our honeymoon in KS, we travel from Norway and arrive late at 13/11.
But due to the rain we are wondering going to Hua Hin the last week. Can you tell me if there is a fast boat/ferry that is going to Hua Hin or correspondate to other travel forms?

Thanks for sharing Marat!

Hi Lotte,

As far as I know thee are only bus connections between Samui and Hua Hin or you need to take a ferry between Samui-Koh Tao - Chumpon and than continue by bus.

My recommendation is to wait and see how conditions once you arrive on Samui.

@ Kurt,

Sorry, Kurt, your comment got sidetracked and I only noticed it now, so please accept my belated apologies.

To get back to the matter at hand, the weather should be just fine during that period, the forecast look excellent right now for the rest of the week.
