Today's weather;
There's a thin cloud layer over Koh Samui this early in the morning with a nice breeze and once the sun heats up the cloud cover may well dissolve although not completely. It should stay dry today and we have a current temp at 7am of 28C
At Kata on Phuket we have a light grey cloud cover that most likely doesn't have any plans of dissolving anywhere soon and there's also a fierce wind blowing. There are a few breaks in the cloud cover which may allow for an occasional sun burst or two. Current temp at 7am is 27.9C
For the candidates of the current PADI IDC on Phuket it's showtime today since the PADI IE is about to start in less than hour. Two nerve wrecking days are in the books for them but they are well prepared and they should do fine. We'll find out soon enough.
The always intriguing statue of Meh Guan Ihm at Wat PLai Laem or Wat Laem Suwannaram, around the corner of our house. This picture was taken mid September under a very nice blue sky. Tis temple is well worth a visit and the Meh Guan Ihm statue is just one of the many statues and buildings worthwhile checking out
Yesterday saw a nice and sunny day around and it got really warm with a max temp of 34C. It seems Koh Samui is one of the few places in Thailand where there's currently no rain!
Yesterday morning I visited the procession that's part of the 'Vegetarian Festival' in Phuket town on Phuket. A blog can be found under the previous link. The 'Ma Song' or people who get in a trance and pierce their cheeks and possess positive powers for the time being, are always accompanied by a group or troupe of followers that look after them. These followers wipe away saliva, since the Ma Song can't close their mouth with an object going through it and small amounts of blood are also wiped away. They also make sure there's enough space for the Ma Song to walk on, without spectators bumping into the Ma Song and touching the piercings. It's not only only men who can be a Ma Song, there were plenty of women as well, pictured above is one female Ma Song with her entourage.
The forecast for Koh Samui for the next ten days that the strong wind remains until Tuesday with the cloud cover expected to stay until this Friday. Occasionally accompanied by a tropical shower but as of next weekend the cloud cover may break a bit and even more sunshine than Koh Samui currently has may be ours to enjoy. This October is looking good so far.
