The big news from Koh Samui is that the power cut continues and now goes into it's third day without electricity. It all seems to be due to a problem with an underwater cable. The island can only be supplied with a fifth of the required electricity and a rotation system is apparently in place, which we only noticed yesterday morning between 4am and 6am. It's supposed to rotate in a 2 hourly schedule.
Gasoline and diesel became also scarce due to all the generators being in use by the big hotels and smaller users. PTT has sent over 10 gasoline trucks to deal with this imminent problem and they keep a close eye on the situation.
It's fascinating to realize how much we are dependent on electricity, something we take for granted and usually don't think too much about.
Tourists are leaving the island but not in such a way that only a thousand are left! At least not yesterday.
Most convenience shops are only open during the daytime, afraid of having their shops emptied out by loose hands when the dark night cover starts.
It's a serious problem though and I wonder if the electricity company is going to give a discount to all Samui residents for the inconvenience.
Word on the street is that it may last another two days.
Black out in Chaweng
Sunset yesterday in Khao Lak
On to the weather on Samui, it's gorgeous, sunny blue skies which will hat everything up nicely and without electricity, many places will have the doors wide open. Current temp at 7am is around 27C
In Khao Lak we have a lightly clouded sky and it's dry with a current temp at 7am of 22.6C. Yesterday it was a sunny day here and max temp reached 32.4C. Today I will start the last PADI IDC of the year here.
Yesterday was a warm and sunny day around Koh Samui with a max temp of around 31C
The forecast is looking gorgeous, warm and sunny days for the next 7 days.

Thanks Pert,
Also appreciate your feedback!
Hi Camille,
oh, this is interesting with the black out in Samui. Hope, u all stay safe. anyway, it´s civilization and one of its weaknesses. Feel like something in the eithies, when it was common having no electricty on the island.

Hi Bernd,
That's what a lot of old visitors to Samui say, back to the good old days when electricity was not a given fact!
Hi Camille
