Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 6th January, 2012

Today's weather;

Blue skies, singing birds and time to get your dust glasses out! The muddied ground from the recent rain has dried up and getting around Koh Samui on a motorbike feels almost like participating in the Dakar rally. It looks like a very nice is ahead of us. Current temp at 7am is 24.5C

Yesterday saw a sunny day all around Koh Samui with a max temp of 28C

The forecast hasn't changed much, the wind is gone and mainly sunny days ahead of us with occasionally a tropical shower. Bring it on January!

Although Samui seems to be carefree for the next week, the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department (DPMD) predicts more rain and flood for the South between 6 and 10 January. I'll keep you posted.

The 7 day road inferno is now over as well, the seven dangerous day period of this New Year Festival has seen decreased road casualties and accidents than last year; 335 deaths and 3,375 injuries in 3,093 accidents, the Road Safety Center reported Thursday.
Would be interesting to know what the average statistics are for Thailand roads, so we can get a good perspective on these statistics.
On Samui the figures have been creatively altered by emitting people who die from road accidents once they stay in a hospital.

Thank you Camille for the exactly reporting. I check it every day. Hope the weather doesn't change so much. If not I have to cancel the trip. I booked at the 16th. We'll see. Regards from Germany Bjoern

Hi Bjoern,

Difficult to predict. The forecast now shows plenty of rain starting Thursday.
