Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 8th November, 2011

Today's weather;

It's good to be back home on Koh Samui and the weather is still un-seasonally good. A blue sky is shaping up and it looks like a warm day lay's ahead. Current temp at 7am is 25.6C

Yesterday saw a warm and dry day round Samui. Max temp reached a whooping 33.2C

The forecast is till fine but rain is predicted after the weekend.

Yesterday saw a nice day in Pattaya, sunny and all. Max temp reached 31.6C and we had a great stay at the Amari Nova Platinum.
Suvarnabhumi airport was a bit quiet but operating as usual.

Today's sky over Samui

The flood situation is not changing a lot at the moment. Here's an overview of the current flooded areas in Bangkok and overall health warnings are being stepped up.

Keep supporting my blog by booking you hoteols on Samui and around the country through my Samui hotel recommendations blog and my Thailand hotel recommendations blog!

Hi Camille,

I've only just discovered your blog while doing some googling and just want to say thanks for providing such helpful and useful information! I have gone back and read your posts from February 2011 and it looked like the weather was quite nice then and generally sunny. Just wondering if this is normal for February? We are coming to Koh Samui during February 2012 for a week, staying at Mah Samui Beach Resort from the 11th for our honeymoon so we are hoping for some nice weather during that time. Its so sad to see the floods that are currently affecting Bangkok and the surrounding areas, hopefully the area can dry out soon and people can start rebuildin

Thanks for your time and any informaton you can provide,

Aaron

Hi Aaron,

February should be fine in general although a shower or two could be yours during a day.

Please have a look at my archives, half way down the page on my Samui info and weather blog, left hand side, they go back a few years. Open a month that you’re interested in and check one of the of the last posts of each month, starting with ‘Goodbye to…………’ this post will tell you the weather conditions for that month.
You can also check each individual post for that month if you wish to.

Hope this helps for now.

Greetings:

I have read some of your posts on Thorn Tree and thought I'd email you. I will be flying to Phuket on Dec 4th and am planning on staying there until the 8th, then going up to Koh Yao for a few days. From there, I was thinking about flying to Koh Samui/Koh Phangan for 5 days (11th-16th), however I have some reservations about the weather. My other option is to head to the Trang Islands. Which of these would you say is a better choice? Do you thinking coming to Koh Samui is too risky because of unpredictable rain?

Thanks,

Elliot

Hi Elliot,

The period around mid December is usually the time frame when the rainy season finishes on Samui. It's hard to predict a month in advance how the situation will be. My advice is to keep an eye on the situation whilst travelling and make a final decision once you can better predict the situation. Hotel bookings can also be made late, whilst in Thailand.

Hi Camille,
Found your blog a few days ago. Really useful! I'm arriving to Koh Samui with my family including 2 kids (1 yr and 4 yrs old) on the 21st of Nov and the plan is to stay for 1 month. I have read info on you blog (and on a couple of other blogs as well) that there have been problems with the supply of water, rice, dipers etc recently on not only Koh Samui, but also sites like Phuket. Is the situation regarding this currently under control? What was/is the reason for these problems? Is there a general problem with logistics around all of Thailand currenty due to the flooding in the northern parts of the country?

Kind Regards,
Chris, Stockholm, Sweden

Hi Chris,

All problems on Samui have more or less been resolved and pretty much everything is back in stock again. The South has not been affected by the floods but all distribution centers were flooded.

There's indeed a general logistical problem all around the country but in the South things are pretty much back to normal.

Hope this helps for now and you will enjoy your stay.
