3rd Annual Service of Remembrance, Koh Samui

Today for the 3rd year in concession the Act of Remembrance was held on Koh Samui at the Lords Bar & Grill in Choengmon, as part of Armistice day or Remembrance day.

Two wreathes were placed

The Commonwealth countries remember the members of their armed forces who have died in the line of duty. Sadly enough the list keeps growing each year, with Afghanistan currently in the spotlights for the Commonwealth countries.


They shall grow not old,
as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun
and in the morning
We will remember them.

It was a simple and sober ceremony with a good attendance of ex service men, non service men and spouses.

The Netherlands has a similar day, but it's held 4th May and is called Dodenherdenking each year followed by Bevrijdingsdag or Liberation Day celebrated 5th May.
