Today's weather;
This morning Samui's sky is dark and grey and it's raining with a soundtrack of thunder in the background. Current temp at 7am is 24.5C
The forecast is slowly changing and it looks like a little bit more rain will be ours almost each day. Nothing too serious and there's still room for sunshine on most days.
Yesterday saw a nice during the day time, there's were some dark clouds but no rain emerged except for a short shower around noon. It may have rained harder or more at other parts of Koh Samui. During the night things changed and I woke up a few times last night because of thunder. Max temp reached 30.3C

In Bangkok it's getting more crucial each day. Yesterday I posted about the current situation, including a flood picture of 1942, here are some more Bangkok flood pictures from 1983 and 1995 and some current flood pictures of last week.
Criticism of the government keeps growing; "In truth, Ms Yingluck's handling of the situation has sparked a crisis of faith. More than the indecision, her chief flaw is how she failed to make people listen."
The PM tries to take charge by invoking a 'disaster law'. There is one painful fact at this stage of the flood disaster: The waters need to pass through Bangkok as fast as possible to ease the suffering of people in other flooded areas.
The authorities should learn from their failure in protecting industrial estates like Nava Nakorn and Bang Kadi and dispatch a team of experts and soldiers to save industrial parks like Lat Krabang from getting submerged in the days to come.
Here's a time line of flooding of industrial estates.
This weekend will tell us how Bangkok will fare. Let's hope for the best.

Camille,
Thanks for writing your blog each day - very helpful.
Am looking at booking a last minute family holiday on Samui with the kids -- am not sure of the weather there -- it looks forecast to be quite rainy -- is the rain there typically a big downpour at a certain part of the day then clearing up or is it an all day affair?
I want to be able to relax on beach and by pool with the kids but if its raining all day then of course now is the wrong time to come.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Chris,
Right now would not be a good moment to book a last minute trip to Samui. Instead I would recommend the Andaman side, either Phuket, Khal Lak, Krabi or Koh Lanta, they're likely to have better weather conditions right now.
Good luck and I hope this helps for now.
Hello !
Me and my girlfriend from Finland are taking a one week holiday on Koh Samui beginning on 28.10.2011.
I would like to ask 2 things:
1. Is the weather worth coming to Koh Samui right now – any change of getting some tan down there ?
2. If yes, do you know any nice apartment close to some nice beach area for rent for 1 week ?
Br, Ville
Hi Ville,
Right now the forecast predicts a bit of rain, almost each day and also plenty of cloud cover, The amount if sun will be reduced. Usually November is the start of the rainy season.
Please have a look at my archives, half way down the page on my Samui info and weather blog, left hand side, they go back a few years. Open a month that you’re interested in and check one of the of the last posts of each month, starting with ‘Goodbye to…………’ this post will tell you the weather conditions for that month.
You can also check each individual post for that month if you wish to.
Maybe keep an eye out on the developments but you nay get more sun at the Andaman side next week.
Hope this helps for now.
Hi Camille,
Thanks for the tip - much appreciated will check out the others as we have been to Phuket before many times.
cheers

Hi !
I belive we still come to Samui and hope for the good weather
Any ideas about apartments on the island or is it just better to arrive and look around ?
Br, Ville
Hi Ville,
Maybe try the
Samui Boat Lagoon
It does not look too bad but I assume it is right next door to the airport ?
Budget is controlled but flexible so if you find something nice, let me know
Br, Ville
How much is a villa with a private pool and does the airport cause noice ?
Br, Ville
Hi Ville,
I live not too far away and the noise of the airplanes is not too bad. Not all planes arrive or leave at that side of the airport, some take off and/or land at the Chaweng end of the airport. In my opinion not something to worry too much about.
You can check the price by clicking on the ‘Booking by Agoda’ link inside the article. Rates are around 3.500,-THB per night.
