8th July, 2010

Today's weather;

A very nice blue sky has started the day over Samui. There are just a few thin white layers visible and I expect them to completely disappear when the day progresses and the sun has it's wicked ways! Current temp at 7am is 26.9C but it looks like it's going to be a hot one.

Last night Spain won the second semi final game at the current World Championship in South Africa, setting the final game to a meeting between the Netherlands and Spain this coming Sunday, 11th July.

Yesterday saw a partly sunny day with a max temp of 31.6C

Hi - I find your blog quite fascinating, particularly as i'm coming to Koh Phangan for the first two weeks of August.

I have been before at this time of year, and to be honest I don't remember it raining more than once, but would you be able to tell me what weather you would expect there to be on Koh Phangnan in the first two weeks of Aug? The guide books don't give me any satisfactory answers - will there be days with clear blue sky all day long? will there be days where it rains all day long? days when it's cloudy all day long?

any help appreciated!

Hi David,

August in the Samui archipelago which includes Koh Phangan is usually very nice with plenty of sunshine and not that much rain, the last three years saw some mixed bag weather but still plenty of sunshine, with 2008 being excellent.

Have a look at my archives and each year will have a ‘goodbye to August’, this will sum up the month for that year.

Thanks very much for replying! your blog is very, very informative.

I hope this year is like 2008, and not like the first week of last year!!! D

Hi David,

Thanks for the thumbs up!

It's still far ahead to say anything about August but so far this year has been really good for sun lovers!
