Today saw the end of Buddhist Lent Day which started this year 3rd July (Khao Phunsa) and finished today 5th October (Awk Phunsa).
Buddhist Lent Day or the end of it, is a big deal and plenty of different festivals are held all over the country and a few are very exclusive to a city or a region, like the Naga Fireball Phenomenon
The end of the Buddhist Lent also means that now it's ok again to drink alcohol for the believers!

Ah, so that's what it was!! We came back from a day's diving on the Waverunner to music and boat races and general celebration on Koh Tao, and nobody knew what was happening.
