2nd October, 2009

Today's weather;

There's heavy overcast over the ocean but for the first time in a while the sky over land is laced with plenty of blue spots. Current temp at 7 am is 25.7C.

Yesterday saw a lot of overcast all day long with during the afternoon some scattered rain drops and some heavy rainfall during the evening. Max temp reached 29.5C.

We're still on the outskirts of Ketsana, that by now has reached Thailand but has been downgraded to a tropical storm.
My thoughts go out to the people in Samoa and Padang, Indonesia who endured a tsunami and a serious earthquake.

We had a shower in Bangkok yesterday for whole day, but managed to have 3 excursions :)
So, it was nothing to serious.

Great and helpful blog, thx!

I'm planning om getting away from the rat race and coming to Samui between 14th and 29th Oct. Very worried that I won't see any sun however, since it's the one thing that I really need after a summer spent working.

Been on mainland Thailand before, and absolutly love the food, people, climate etc so I'd really like to try the islands. BUT - with the gloom and doom of grey skies and rain, should I go somewhere else instead?

Thanks again for your great blog!

Hi there,

Ideally you will get some sunshine in but the more you close in on November, the more realistic it is that you get near the rainy season, difficult to tell when it starts. Hopefully somewhere in november. Out of experience you should be fine but it's unfortunately no guarantee for this time of the year.

Hope you enjoy Thaialnd and Samui nonetheless.
