20th November, 2008

Today's weather;

It's very cloudy and wet, as predicted! Last night it rained very hard around midnight and this morning it varies between drizzle and plain rain. The wind has also picked up. Current temp is still a very nice 27.2C.
Tomorrow we're planning to go to the mainland, to Khanom, so I'm not sure if I will be able to update in the morning.

Yesterday was still very sunny although the clouds crept in and twice I got wet, once in Maenam and once in Chaweng, although they were minor showers. Max temp reached 30.4C.

You have a useful website there. Myself and my girlfriend are visiting samui at Christmas this year. I have looked at the expected temperatures on various sites and it seems it is a little cooler at this time of year. What can we actually expect. I must add it it is her that is bothered not me. I'm sure there is far more to do in samui than worry about sunshine but these women live for their tans!!! Wayne

Hi Wayne,

It should be fine around Christmas.
You can have a look at the December 2007 archive.
There's indeed enough other things to do besides getting a tan, but she may be lucky!

What got wet? You or your car ;-)

Hi Camille

Thank you so much for replying! I do hope we get SOME sunshine as we have had no summer in the UK. Are other islands sunnier than Koh Samui or is the weather the same all over Thailand?

Hopefully the sun will shine.

Warm wishes

Hi Jan,

This time of the year, places at the Andaman side, like Phuket, Koh Phi pHi, Koh Lanta and Kao Lak have usually the better weather.

We can only hope it's gonna get better soon on Samui, but typically early December the hard rain stops.
