27th June, 2008

Today's weather;

There's a fair bit of overcast with small blue patches in it, supporting a 25C temp at 7am.

Yesterday was a mixed bag with overcast and blue patches, all day long and an occasional drop here and there, but nothing serious. Max temp reached 30.7C.
It looks like the wind and overcast are receding and some sunny days are coming up.

Hi,
Been reading your blog and just am considering coming over to Koh Samui, and neighbouring island, but just worried about the sunshine, how many hours usually is it sunny a day? I was in Phuket last year and it rained for 2 days solid! Also, a silly question but I read reports on Jelly fish, etc is it safe to swim in the sea? Anyway, please get back to me as soon as you can as need to book flights.
Thank you so much for your help.
Arnie

Hi Arnie,

Thanks for your message. When are you exactly planning to come over to Samui? Seasons may vary on each coast, you may take a look at my archive and compare last years weather for the period that you’re planning to visit.

Regarding the reports on jelly fish, it should be safe to swim, but my posts are just a warning, that’s all.

Hope you find this helpful and that you will enjoy your stay on Samui.

Cheers

Hi,
All I want to do is relax and lay on a beach, I am planning to go to spend most time in Ko Samui, Ko Phangn Nan and Ko Tao, maybe do a little diving. I should arrive on 3rd July, next week. How many hours sunshine a day usually do you get? sorry for this but my girlfriend will be pissed off with me if she doesn't get a sun tan! Ridiculous.Do you reccomend any accomodation on the islands, which is about £20 a night and comfortable?
Thanks
Arnie

Hi Arnie,

The weather should be ok, there may be some tropical rain storms, but they should not last longer than an hour or two at most and the rest should be rather sunny. The weather is clearing up for next week anyway!

Regarding hotels, Lamai, Maenam, Bophud and Choengmon are places you wanna look into on Samui, Lamai being the busiest of the four and
The other three are located in the north. Your price range should be possible to find, have a look here ,

If you want to go diving, let me know, I’m happy to help you out!

Good luck and enjoy,
Camille

Hello,

I was wondering if you could help me?!!

I am getting married on Maenam beach, Cocopalm hotel and I have 22 guests coming over too for a week 10th – 17th August.

We are getting married on Thursday 14th August and I am not sure what part of the day would be best in terms of the weather!!!

I originally thought we could marry about 4pm when it’s probably a little cooler and then have a bbq and then some music on the evening but now I am worried that it might rain heavily in the late afternoon so maybe the morning would be better??!!

The last time I was in Ko Samui it was February so I’m not sure what the weather will be like!!

I really hope you will be kind enough to give some information about the daily weather pattern.

Thank you so much for your help,

Shelley (UK)

Hi Shelley,

Thanks for your message.

In August you should pretty much have excellent weather, maybe worth while looking into my archive for August last year. In general there’s not much rain in August. You can’t really compare February with August, the latter being almost as good as it gets!

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Camille
