Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 12th November, 2011

Today's weather;

The sky over Koh Samui is a little bit grayer today compared to previous days and it's wet. This morning saw some rain already. Right now the sun tries to break through though. Current temp at 7am is 24.7C

The forecast is looking good, the next few days will see a few showers but there will be plenty of sunny days as well and the rainy season is still not in sight.

Yesterday saw a mixed bag over Samui. Some parts saw rain during the day time and other were dry. Last night saw some rain at other parts of the island. This was however just 'bad weather' rain and not the relentless rainy season rain. Max temp reached 31C

Chaweng beach earlier this week, looking good!

The government has apologised to people affected by its slow response to the flooding crisis as water levels began to recede in some affected areas.

Within 10 to 14 days the floods in Bangkok should have been a thing of the past! If past experience is any guide, one ordeal will soon give way to another. As the floodwaters gradually recede, disaster relief workers must be ready to mount the biggest mopping-up operation in Thailand's history.

There's a group of people ready to sue the government over it's alleged failure to manage the flood. Former PM Abhisit Vejjajiva is backing this group.

hey! sorry for my bad English, I hope you understand. your blog is very helpful for us who are planning a trip to koh samui:) I know you've gotten this question before, and sorry to ask again but could not find the answer .. We have booked a trip to your island from 26.11 to 12.12 this year, but has now become a little uncertain whether it is a bad time to travel? I have read that you wrote that you still waiting for the rain season, and do not want to sit in the rain for 2 weeks ...:) would you rebooked your travel if you were in our situation? We travel with two small children 1 and 5 years. it is scary weather if it is rainy season, and does it rain all the time? very grateful for your reply, and again thank you for your helpful blog:)
Sincerely, Kathe Sollie

Hi Kathe,

That's a good question, usually the period that you're planning to visit Koh Samui is a full on rainy period and it could rain for two weeks in a row.
This year the weather has been very good sofar but I can't predict how it will be later during the month. Do you have hotel reservations already? Maybe re-schedule to the Andaman side, Phuket, Koh Lanta or Khao Lak or maybe even Krabi?

Please have a look at my archives, half way down the page on my Samui info and weather blog, left hand side, they go back a few years. Open a month that you’re interested in and check one of the of the last posts of each month, starting with ‘Goodbye to…………’ this post will tell you the weather conditions for that month.
You can also check each individual post for that month if you wish to.

Hi Camille,
I am visiting Koh Samui in mid November. Since it could be raining do you think scuba diving and snorkelling activities would be on.
Thanks
Santosh

Hi Santosh,

November can be nasty weather wise on Samui, but providing weather allows it, the boats will be going out for dive and snorkel trips.
