Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 9th November, 2011

Today's weather;

The sky over Koh Samui is looking great again, a blue sky with big fluffy clouds in it. Current temp at 7am is around 27C

The forecast is showing rain starting Sunday. Will the rainy season start at last?

Yesterday saw a nice and sunny day over Koh Samui with a max temp of just over 30C

View at Big Buddha yesterday

The overall flood situation is still progressing in Bangkok and the heart of the city is being protected since the water reached the last barrier.
Good news is that 25 factories re-opened in Ayuthaya and 33.000 employees have been re-employed and are back at work.

Hi Camille, thanks for your blog it is very helpful to us. We hv booked a holiday in koh samui in early dec, and bringing my elderly mum who is worried abt flooding and refugees and lack of food supplies. she is getting scared by all the reports abt bangkok. cld i pl ask what is the chance of flooding, refugees and lack of good food supplies in dec, in ur opinion? thank you for your patience.

Hi spots,

By December I would expect the majority of the floods to have receded. besides that, Samui has none of the things that your mum is scared about!

Hi,

usually this time of the year, in November, we do get a lot of rain. It's our yearly rainy season. Last year was very wet, this year has been very good sofar. Two years ago it was dry as a cork!
Difficult to predict how things will look like in a weeks time. Right now the forecast shows rain after the weekend.

Please have a look at my archives, half way down the page on my Samui info and weather blog, left hand side, they go back a few years. Open a month that you’re interested in and check one of the of the last posts of each month, starting with ‘Goodbye to…………’ this post will tell you the weather conditions for that month.
You can also check each individual post for that month if you wish to.

Camille, I saw a post about weather in Koi Sumui and hoped to get some info. My wife and I are headed there from the US on Nov 25 for our Honeymoon. I have been following the flood issue. My question is do you think there will be issues getting in and out of Bangkok and to the island? I know you cant predict the weather, but just thought you may have on the ground info. Thanks and if we make it would love to do a dive as we are both PADI divers.

Hi Marc,

Usually the weather in November is not very good, but so far the weather has been surprisingly good this year. I wouldn’t expect any problems at the airport right now and I think that you’ll be just fine getting in and out of Samui. Once you’re here, get in touch and we can get you wet the proper way ;-)
