Hi Camille,

I stumbled over your address when trying to google info about Samui still being a safe place to holiday.
My wife and I have 8 nights booked at the Centara Beach Resort from the 3rd of June.
It would be fair to say we are a little nervous!! We are watching the news daily and I read the Bangkok Post on line.
We will only be transitting Bangkok airport enroute, not staying there at all.
Are we going to notice anything untoward on Samui?? What can you advise us??
Any thoughts would be good.

Hi Al,

Whilst on Samui you won't notice anything at all, unless you watch TV or read newspapers.

All the unrest is confined to a very small area in Bangkok and you wouldn't even notice in the rest of Bangkok that something is going on.

We can only hope that rest will return quickly and the protests will end.

Hope this helps.

Hi, we've been planning our holidays on Koh Samui every other year or so
for about the last 12 years and I was just wondering whether there any
fallout from the political unrest in Bangkok.

I guess there are several ways to interpret this, civil order or security
on Koh Samui itself, flying to Koh Samui from Suvarnabhumi Airport, heck
there may even be an upside, less traffic and lower prices.... anyway,
you're definitely the insider, so you're views would be very helpful

Hi Herb,

Please check the same answer as above, Samui is fine and quiet, as is the rest of Thailand, especially the major tourist destinations.
