24th April, 2009

Today's weather;

This morning I woke up to a nearly blue sky with a current temp at 7 am of 28.2C.

Yesterday it was once more hot and sunny. The wind is still there but seems strongest during the late afternoon and evenings. Max temp reached 33.2C.

Hi, you seem like a valuable resource for weather in the islands! I'm due to arrive in nang in a week or so but contemplting cancelling my flight because the forecast is rain rain rain. Do you think we would get enough sunshine to make it worthwhile? and also I wondered are the mosquitoes partculalrly bad at the moment? I would really appreciate your response and value your opinion as a long timer in the islands. It would make all the difference to get a perspective of someone who lives there! Thanks a lot.

Hi,

If you check the Windguru site, my favorite site, http://www.windguru.cz/int/index.php?sc=30397, it will tell you that there will be strong to very strong winds but hardly any rain. You should get plenty of sunshine, just follow my daily updates or check the April/May archives.

Hi Camille,
I'm coming over to Thailand next week from Australia and am going to be heading down from Bangkok to Koh Samui and Ko Tao. I'm panicking a bit cause all the weather forecasts are showing thunderstorms. Have you experienced many thunderstorms there and is it still sunny even though their are storms. Is it sunbathing weather? Would be great to hear back from someone who is there Cheers Julia

Thanks for the prompt reply, its really appreciated. One more question, my girlfriend has an allergy to mosquito bites, she can handle a few bites but is it a big problem in the islands? sorry to message you twice! thank you

Hi,

On Samui mosquitoes are not really a problem, personally I hardly get bitten at all. Don’t know about Koh Phangan, sorry.
