It's been just 4 days now since the crash at the 7-11 in Bang Rak.
The burned out car has been towed away after two days and every day saw frantic activity to get the electricity and such restored.
This picture clearly shows two burned out motor bike frames in front of the completely demolished 7-11, with a 3rd bike carcass not so clearly recognisable in the back, just behind the second, middle bike.
It also turned out that there was a severely injured person after all, a Thai lady who happened to be outside of 7-11 when the car hit the pole. She ended up under the car and has burn wounds all over her body from the ignited gasoline.
She kept her head together when she was under the car and asked a 7-11 worker to bring her to the nearest hospital on the back of a bike. There's she being treated right now and although she seems to be out of life danger, she's still severely injured. This Friday there will be a fund raiser at the Admiral Lord Nelson pub in Bang Rak for her.
The driver has been arrested by the police and it seems that he was just 18 and it was the first day that he had his brand new car!

Hi Camille,
I am a regular reader of ur blog. Is it true that there is no electricity at Samui today? And for that all the ATMs are not working? not even the 7-11 ones?
Hi,
There has been electricity where ever I was all day long, in the Plai Laem and the Bophud area.
The ATM's weren't working the day after the accident, in the Bang Rak area, but as far as I know, they are all fine again and up and working!
Electricity was up the same day as the accident.
Blood hell Camille! When I read the headline I was just expecting a couple of motorbikes to have collided, in the usual Samui-style. That looks pretty bad. Hopefully the woman who was hit makes a full recovery.
Hi Dave,
Yep, this was a serious one!
Let's keep our fingers crossed for that lady indeed.
