Songkran was a cold affair this year! It didn't rain as predicted but the clouds and the wind did their work. Throw in (literally) some ice cooled water being hurled your way and don't be surprised if next week half of Samui walks around with a cold!
It was fun nonetheless and here are some impressions of the day although many people did complain about the cold.
The start, choose your weapon of choice; waterguns, powder and perfumed water or any combination will do just fine
It was not allowed to sell alcohol at the roadside, to reduce accidents
It was busy in Chaweng, a traffic jam snaked it's way down the beach road
Having fun on the bike
Mum, daughter and Tweety on the move
Suitable and well fitting heels
Don't forget that you're in Thailand, always time for food!
Proof; Chaweng was like a Zoo

We will be there this April, is it busy time with touriest ?
Main thing is, is it 'cold' as you said in your blog. I read everywhere that it's a very hot time of year.
Looking forward to it though. Kids will love it.
Santhana
Hi Santhana,
April on Koh Samui is usually one of the hottest month of the year. In 2013 the Songkran day was cold, which is an exception.
To clarify, please have a look at my archives, halfway down the page on my Samui info and weather blog, right hand side, they go back a few years. Open a month that you’re interested in and check one of the last posts of each month, starting with ‘Goodbye to…………’ this post will tell you the weather conditions for that month.
You can also check each individual post for that month if you wish to.
