Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 13th April, 2013

Today's weather;

Sawasdee pee mai, krab or Happy Thai New Year!

It's going to be a wet one this year and not because of the water being thrown at you by party revelers but because of the expected rain today, it drizzled and rained a bit already this morning and the current temp at 7am is 28.7C under very cloudy skies hanging over Koh Samui

The road toll for the first day of this year's 7 dangerous days was 39 deaths, Thursday saw 39 deaths and 342 injuries in 326 road accidents.

Sunny Songkran 2011 in Chaweng

Songkran won't be sunny this year around the island but I do expect it to be busy nonetheless, the water will be cold though!

Yesterday was cloudy in the morning but during the daytime the sun broke through a couple of times and it was warmer again. Max temp reached 30.5C
Last night just before midnight a massive storm passed over which woke me up due to it being loud and lots of rain came down, the roads are full of tree debris and where ever sand roads hit paved roads, long sandy patches are on the paved roads.

Samui was already in the news with top less girls last night in Chaweng, it looks busy indeed

The forecast predicts rain and strong wind until Monday, after that the sun breaks out again.

Got caught out yesterday by people starting Songkran one day early and was soaking wet.

I was woken up by those booms of thunder last night, too. It's starting to get interesting here in the south east now (09:26) today with wind swaying the trees noticeably now and the sky getting darker and darker. It could indeed be the Saturday Songkran storm you were predicting for some time.

I have no problem with topless Girls in general, but in Thailand it just seems arrogant to go ahead and do it here. I can't tell if the Girl in the photo on that link is foreign or Thai. My obsveration on the beaches is that it is the Russian Girls who seem to be the main culprits for going topless.

Either they don't know the unspoken rules, or chose to ignore them because they're on holiday.
