It's raining right now! Great, a little bit of cooling off and some water for the plants and wells. I don't expect it to last that long though and not to mention it's cloudy right now! Current temp at 7am is 30.7C
Yesterday saw a sunny and hot day on Samui, but what is new right now? Max temp reached 32.4C

It's difficult to tell since May is always considered 'low season' but I would say that it is slightly more quiet than usual.
July should be nice and busy and providing the Bangkok situation gets sorted out, everything should be up and running.

HI, I'm due to come from Australia to Koh Samui via Bangkok on 6th June,
planning on now simply staying at an airport hotel at Bangkok rather than
going into Bangkok because of the protests. Would you say Koh Samui is
affected at all or is likely to be?

Staying at a hotel near the airport is a sound thing to do, hopefully by early June the situation has been defused however.
On Samui everything is fine and quiet, no unrest whatsoever!

Sorry if this is inappropriate, but as you are local i just wanted to know
what the current situation is like on Koh samui regarding the recent
protests and terrorism in thailand? I have been to koh samui before and
loved it, so i cant see it being violent there but could you tell me what
the feelings are over there at the moment? My friend and I are travelling
from england to samui, koh phangan and koh tao in june for three weeks.
Also, are all the normal tourist things still going on, such as boat trips,
restaurants, bars, ferries etc? Your help would be so much appreciated!

Don't worry, there's no reason, live on Samui is as usual, no sign of protests here and all services are running as usual!
The actual unrest in Bangkok is actually just in a very small area and if you're a few block away you wouldn't even notice, although right now with the burning of the tyres you probably would notice ;-)
I truelly hope you will enjoy your relaxing stay on Samui in June!
