Koh Samui road behavior

That traffic on Koh Samui is dangerous is a well known fact. A couple of days ago a new dimension was added. On various social media and forums, talk popped up about a person who was driving a bike whilst standing on it and steering with his feet.

A few days ago, this video popped up on Facebook by somebody who saw it and drove behind the bike and person in question and had it filmed by his passenger.

This is between Bophud traffic lights and Tesco Lotus.

Latest news is that he was arrested two days ago, apparently the driver of the bike is of Burmese nationality and supposedly he tested positive for drugs and had a gun in possession when brought to the Ban Thai police sub station.

Although it may look funny, in my opinion it shows some of the most irresponsible road behavior imaginable with no respect for other road users safety. What do you think?

Today's weather;

On Koh Samui we have a a sky with a deeper shade of blue, it's going to be a hot day. Current temp at 7am is 26.7C

On Gili Air in Indonesia it looks very similar. Current temp here at 8am local time is 25C

Today I'm off to Bali for a two night stay and than back home to Samui on Monday!

Today's weather;

Koh Samui's sky is stunning again this morning with plenty of sunshine and hardly any clouds. Current temp at 7am is 27C

On Gili Air in Indonesia we have near perfect blue sky with plenty of sunshine and a current temp at 8am local time of 25C

Today is the last day of the PADI IE and a report will follow later on my dive blog.

Yesterday evening saw a stunning sunset around the Gili islands (aka Gili Indah), we caught it on our way back from Gili Trawangan (aka Gili Tralala) to Gili Air after a successful day at the PADI IE

Koh Samui is delivering the goods again with a partly cloudy sky, the sun is out though and it looks like another hot day is in the making. Current temp at 7am is 27.5C

Today I find myself back on Gili Trawangan island, one of the three islands that make up Gili Indah and it's the biggest one of these three. We're here for a PADI IE. It's sunny a27Cnd nice on all three islands with a current temp at 8am local time of 27C

The current PADI IDC is being completed by noon and an update can be expected later today.

Koh Samui is gearing up for a sunny start of this new month, the sun is rising and ready to beat all remaining bits of cloud out of the sky. Current temp at 7am is 26.3C

On Gili Air in Indonesia it's a near perfect blue sky and at 8am local time it feels warm already with a current temp of 26C

A new boat is being build on Gili Air in Indonesia, the only thing in place so far is the beam. Something to follow and give some updates on the progress during future visits

The forecast is looking good, mostly sunny skies over the next 7 days with the wind picking up again before the weekend.

Welcome to March 2014

March usually has nice and mild weather with plenty of sunshine and good conditions in general. Just like February, a good month to visit Samui, before the heat of April is upon us. 

Out of the last 7 years during March on Samui, as recorded on this blog, only in 2011 March had lots of rain towards the end of the month during an out of season flooding of the island. The forecast is predicting lovely conditions for the first week of this month.

One of the big events this months will be the Grand opening of Central festival towards the end of the month, 29th March. That will be an interesting day and you don't need clairvoyance abilities to see half of the island population flocking together for this event. Something I happily will pass and visit a day or two later, when the crows have thinned a bit.

This month is busy for me with non stop work and the associated travelling but whenever I am on Koh Samui, I take the opportunity to visit Kobori, the new Japanese restaurant in Maena. Well worth a visit for some excellent Japanese food. Enjoy!
