Hello from a very snowy Finland :)
We found your nice blog while trying to find information about the weather on Koh Samui.
We have booked a trip to Samui in early January with my husband, and we have been trying to figure out the weather conditions for some time. It would seem like there is unusually much rain this year, and we are slightly worried about not getting the beautiful sunny days we have waited for so long.
Do you feel the rainy season is unusually late this year, and do you think there is a risk of a lot of rain in January (7-22)? We are thinking about maybe postponing the trip to be sure to enjoy sunny days.
Any thoughts? We do not worry about the occasional short rain shower but two weeks of mostly overcast, cloudy and rainy does not sound tempting when we are looking for the sun :). I have also just got my PADI OWD certificate and am looking forward to a few dives, but if there are thunderstorms and even floods, even diving doesn't sound all that tempting though I know it is calmer under water than on the surface.
Any information about how the weather prospects in Samui would be appreciated since we need to make decision on postponing the trip by New Year's Eve.
Best regards to you and your family, keep up the nice blog and happy travels
Thanks for your message and enquiry. Apologies for the late reply, I was travelling myself and had only limited time each day available.
January should usually be fine with plenty of sunshine. Please check my archives which go back for 4 years, the can be found on the left side of my blog about halfway through the page.
