23rd December, 2009

Today's weather;

A blue is shaping up with an occasional cloud in it. Current temp at 7am is 26.3C.
The forecast is looking really good for the next 7 days, sunshine almost all day long.

Yesterday wasn't such a blue sky after all. It started out nice but soon dark clouds appeared and around 10am there was a serious shower. After this it got a lot better again, the clouds kept hanging around but there was plenty of sunshine as well.
Max temp reached 29.2C.

Hey,

I have a question for you. If we were to come to Thailand, what's the best time to come? There is a Thai woman who works at the post office and she told me March or October. I thought I'd check with you. We have enough miles to get there. Just no money to spend. So we're working on that. In the meantime, I may just book a flight just to be sure.

Hope your Christmas and New Year's is great.

Hi MLC,

When to visit is really depending on where you go. Both coasts have opposite seasons. Right now we should just have had a horrible rainy season, but that never materialised, we had great weather all of last two months, besides an occasional bit of rain, nothing anywhere near a monsoon.

In general you can say that the Gulf of Thailand/Samui where I live, has a good season from March to October. The 'other' side, the Andaman Sea (Phuket, Kao Lak, Koh Lanta, Koh Phi Phi, Krabi) has a good season from October to March.

Like right now on Samui, there's no guarantee. April is usually the hottest and driest month on Samui.

Acco can be dirt cheap, pending on what your comfort level is but in general you can get aircon rooms for around 1.000,-THB a night. Food is also cheap, especially if you eat Thai food, meals can be had for around 40,-THB per meal. portions are small though , so you eat all day long! Alcohol is expensive, especially on a night out, a bottle of beer is easily 100,-THB in a bar. Hope this helps for starters. When are you planning to come over and what are your in-country travel plans?
