6th June, 2009

Today's weather;

An almost blue sky reigns over Samui this lovely morning and has all the ingredients for brewing up another nice and hot day. Current temp at 7 am is 26C.

Today I also like to commemorate the Normandy invasion in France, 65 years ago.

Yesterday had a sunny morning and early afternoon but around 3 pm a short but very intense shower visited Samui and it remained cloudy for the rest of the day. Max temp reached the lower thirties Celsius.

Hi Camille

Well thinks were a little different yesterday. We went to Dae Ngiab in Bophud and had Moo Klob and Kao Man Gai, but I think I had eaten too much for breakfast and struggled to eat it all. The lady thought I didnt like the food but I tried to explain that it was just too big for us to eat. I am not used to receiving soup with every meal! It was nice but I think I prefer Issan food, so later that afternoon we travelled home via Clok Lana to get some Kai Yang but we must have confused them as they bought out everything that we ordered the other day and I was in no state to be able to fit all that in as much as I would have liked to. They looked bewilded when we didnt want it all. I hope they were not upset.
Today we might go to Dcheed 2 for lunch and tonight either Sabeinglae or Yamato. It is my hubands birthday today so I will let him decide what he prefers.
I love duck, can you tell me where you would go to eat duck without paying a fortune?
Having a great time as ususal apart from the mozzies that try to destroy my holiday everytime no matter what I do.
Cheers Bronwyn

Hi Bron,

That’s funny but not that unusual. Often in Thailand, you order one thing and the cook or chef decides that you need something completely different. Happened to me many times and even to my wife whilst visiting Thai restaurants in the Netherlands and she ordered food in Thai. Had me in stitches and I explained to her that this happened many times to me in Thailand. She didn’t think it was funny at all. Thais will however always take care of you and your food needs, as your sample shows.

The best duck I strangely enough find at MK, to be found in either Big C or Tesco Lotus. The sauce at MK is an absolute winner!

Good luck and hope you enjoy the food, wherever you go.
