Today's weather;
It's looking very promising again. A blue sky is shaping up with big white clouds over the ocean. Current temp at 7 am is 25C.
Today's I'm off to Koh Tao for two nights for another PADI IE.
Yesterday was very hot! Max temp reached 31.4C.
The political weather in Bangkok remains unstable, PM Somchai was summoned to an audience with HM the King and house dissolution rumours are rife.
The Royal household has made it very clear where their sympathies lie, HM the Queen attends slain protester's cremation. The family won't get their daughter back but it must've meant some consolement for them and it's of course a massively big political statement.
The row over the tear canisters continues as well; Orders came from above, says Dr Pornthip. Dr. Thorntip may be remembered for her outstanding work during the Tsunami work she did.
Chinese canisters to be recalled, destroyed.
Here's also some news about the person who has caused a lot of the current Thai problems; Thaksin: The man with perfect timing.

Hello,
I am due to travel to Ko Samui on 4 Dec this year. I am getting mixed messages and am becoming increasingly worried about the weather we may get in December. I don’t mind rain and am sure it would be quite welcome in the heat but I’m starting to read on forums that activities like scuba diving and kayaking will not be possible in December as a result of the weather>
I know these things are unpredictable but I heard the weather was quite bad in December on Ko Samui last year and don’t’ want it to spoil outdoor activities that I am keen to take part in.
How have you found the weather in Dec over the past few years and is it likely to effect outdoor activities especially in the sea?
Kind Regards,
Lindsay
Hi Lindsay,
The activities you mention are conducted year round. Scuba trips around Samui are cancelled due to weather possibly 10 per year, mostly in the November – February period.
For an idea about Samui weather conditions, please check my archive but in general the monsoon or rainy season lasts in average until mid December so yes, it’s likely that you may encounter rain, varying from lots to little bits.
Most of the time though, our dive trips still run and you should be able to get wet underwater!
