5th July, 2008

Today's weather;

It's very cloudy this morning with just a few blue spots around although it looks like the sun may come out later. Current temp at 7 am is 25C.

Yesterday was a nice and sunny day up till around 7 pm when it started to rain for a bit, in typical tropical style, hard rain for a short period and then quickly dry afterwards. Max temp reached 32.7C.

Hi Camille,

Just need your help to decide how to reach samui thesedays,

1>Fly from BKK to Surantthani, bus then ferry

2>Train from BKK to Surantthani, bus then ferry

3>Bus from BKK to Surantthani, then ferry

Q1.Is it difficult to buy train tickets in BKK around 2 days advance?(prefer 1st class)

Q2.Which one is nearer to the jetty port to samui, railway station or bus station at Surantthani.

Q3.If I take 10:45 flight back to BKK from Surantthani, is it possible to leave Samui on the morning?

Q4:How long it usually take from bus/train station to samui (by bus then ferry).

so many questions, and many thanks for your help

Hi Jerry,

Here we go;

Q1; That's not too difficult, specialized travel agents can book train tix for you, it just depends on high season how long in advance they're booked out.

Q2; Bus station at Surat is nearer to the ferry terminal, however, upon each train arrival, there are busses waiting to ferry you over to the ferries. Possible more frequent or easier than the bus station in Surat town.

Q3; First ferry leaves at 6 am, arrives roughly around 8 am, it's an hour to an hour and a half to teh Surat airport, providing you catch an immediate transfer, may be tight!

Q4; train station/bust station to ferry roughly an hour or slighly more, ferries take an hour and a half to two hours to reach Samui.

Hope this helped!
