Today's weather;
Another nice blue sky seems to be shaping up over Koh Samui for a second consecutive day. Better enjoy it before the supposed storm might hit later this week. Current temp at 7am is 27.4C
A different view; the backside of Big Buddha
Yesterday saw a very nice and warm day with all day long blue skies, almost a rarity this month. Max temp reached 33C
The forecast hasn't changed much, the predicted stormy weather is still for Friday evening and lasting almost all of next week, with strong wind and some rain coming up.

Dear Camille.
I have been reading your blog on Samui weather with great interest. We are planning a trip to Koh Samui and Koh Phangang (thong Nai Pan Yai) from December 15th to January 2nd, and then five days in Bangkok.
Could you say something about the weather in December? I gather that we can expect some rain but since we also read that December has up to 9 hours of daily sunlight my question is: Can we expect heavy rain for short periods with sun and blue skies in between?
It is my impression from your blogg that the last years december has been cloudy and rainy all the way through. Is this correct or has there also been periods of blue skies and sunshine the last years?
We are going with two small children (2 & 5) and if we can expect entire days of cloudy weather with constant rain we might go somewhere else. But changing weahter is actually nice as long as we can expect periods of blue skies and sunlight as well.
Could you lend me some words of advice? We really would like to go to samui and phangan instead of Phuket and Krabi to get that "Thai experience"
Hi Stein,
Around mid-December we usually have a change of weather and the rainy season kind of stops and a nicer weather pattern should move in. It’s however difficult to state when that exact date may be, sometimes it happens in early December but it can also happen in late December.
Please have a look at my archives, halfway down the page on my Samui info and weather blog, right hand side, they go back a few years. Open a month that you’re interested in and check one of the last posts of each month, starting with ‘Goodbye to…………’ this post will tell you the weather conditions for that month.
You can also check each individual post for that month if you wish to.
Hope this helps for now.
