Today's weather;
It's cloudy this morning over Koh Samui with a very rare break in the clouds this early on. According to the forecasts it should remain mostly cloudy and there is a good chance of a few showers today.
All roads around the island are clearing up and the floods are receding everywhere. Current temp at 7am is 27C
Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 19th January, 2017; Wat Plai Laem or Wat Laem Suwannaram yesterday morning, basking in the sunshine
Yesterday saw a surprisingly nice morning with a partially clouded sky and plenty of sunshine. During the afternoon more clouds move in but it stayed dry in the north eastern corner of our island, other parts may have had some showers. Max temp reached 30C
The forecast for the next seven days predicts a mixture of light wind, cloudy to partially cloudy skies, an occasional sun beam and a high possibility of rain showers each day. Nothing like the recent January floods we had though!

thanks for the useful updates, am checking them daily!
You're welcome
Thanks for the updates! Is this weather out of the ordinary i Januari? I visit Thailand next week and travel around for 4 weeks. Wondering if i would change planes and visit the north first and wait for better weather in the south if this is not normal?
Hi! I am happy I ran into your blog, since I will be travelling to Koh Samui in mid-February and I am a little bit worried about the floods. How does it look like? Will everything be ok by then or will I ran into dirty beaches and still some very affected areas because of the floods?
Hi Danni,
Yes, it's very unusual. Apparently it was the worst weather for Southern Thailand in 30 years.
Things are back to normal again though, today and yesterday were sunny although raon was predicted.
Hi Valentina,
Keep following the blog and my Samui info and weather blog Facebook page for more updates.
In mid February everything should be fine again though, what you an do is to have a look at my archives, half way down the page on my Samui info and weather blog, right hand side, they go back a few years. Open a month that you’re interested in and check one of the last posts of each month, starting with ‘Goodbye to…………’ this post will tell you the weather conditions for that month.
You can also check each individual post for that month if you wish to.
We are staying at the north end of Chaweng beach since 4 nights. Today was extremly sunny. Just a very few small clouds. Tomorrow is said to be same. We had some rain in the night, but during the day its beautiful. We are here with a 5 year old and a baby and are actually happy, that there were hours with clouds in the last days. Besides beaches there is a lot to see and experience and some clouds even are useful for that. If I get it right, this island isn't small and weather varies a lot between the differnt places. Even if you see rain on one beach, jump in a taxi or other vehicle and go to one of the other beaches Regards, Markus
Glad to find your blog! We're supposed to fly to Koh Samui on the 21st, tried to cancel the reservation due to the bad weather forecasted for the next week or so but the hotel didn't accept the cancelaron request claiming that the area (southeast of koh Samui) hasn't been affected. Hard to believe. Would greatly appreciate any input from you! Thank you! :)
Thanks Markus.
Hi Natalia,
The South of the island will have had it's share of problems but all is back to normal now.
