Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 16th December, 2016

Today's weather;

Most parts of Koh Samui are dry at the moment during this early morning but our North Eastern part of the island has rain. There shouldn't be too much rain today but it should remain mostly cloudy. Current temp at 7am is 26C

On Koh Phangan we have grey clouds all over the place, from dark to light grey and it just started to rain some ten minutes ago but it also seemed to have stopped again. Current temp is 25C at 7am and we don't expect any sunshine here but hopefully we don't have all day long rain either, like yesterday.

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 16th December, 2016

Hin Ta and Hin Yai in Lamai yesterday, with a very dark back ground, clouds in all kind of grey to almost black shades. There's was plenty of rain around Koh Samui yesterday but not all day long. The rain wasn't hard or torrential but a nice steady downpour to a drizzle at times.

Yesterday saw a lot of rain around Koh Samui, but not all day long (in contrast to Koh Phangan where we had all day long rain), but it wasn't torrential but rather steady and sometimes just a drizzle. Max temp reached only 27C

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 16th December, 2016

Outside of the classroom of the current December PADI IDC on Koh Phangan at Haad Chao Phao yesterday, with the rain having a ball. All day long we had rain, not hard but almost non stop all day long, As a result we had some minor floods on some parts of the road, but because the rain wasn't hard, the floods weren't too bad. We were in the swimming pool yesterday for almost two hours as part of the PADI IDC training and it was cold!

The forecast predicts a slight increase in wind over the weekend with all day long rain, again, not torrential but steady. Come Monday it should clear up and we may see some sunshine again. The monsoon is back, but this time in a lot more reasonable way and how you can expect a monsoon to be, without the excessive and torrential rain and all it brings with it.

Hi,

I m planning to come to Koh Samui on 29th December 2016 for new year celebrations. Please guide me about the new year party at Had Rin Beach if its happening or not due to bad weather condition and floods.

It will be a great help for us.

Hi Adnan,

Most likely that party will happen, We had a 'freak' bad weather patch for a few days, not it's all more or less back to normal.
There should be no reason why the party would be cancelled.

Hi Camille,

Amazing you've kept this updated everyday for so many years.

Any idea what the weather will be like next week (From 20th December) Onwards?

In a previous post, you said it could be very sunny and warm run up to Xmas, has the forecast now changed to something less favourable?

Thanks

Hi Charles,

The weather forecasts change all the time, same for Samui. Currently the situation is looking better after weekend. Plenty of rain during this weekend but after the 20th at this moment it looks mostly dry with partially cloudy skies.
