Tsunami 2004, 11 years ago

Tsunami 2004, 11 years ago

Today it's the memorial of the Tsunami 2004, 11 years ago. The 2004 tsunami, a massive natural event that took the live of approximately 230.000 people along the coastline of Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar, India, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and Somalia.

The police boat, Rua Tor 812 that was swept inland in Khao Lak and has been left there. Over the years a tsunami memorial has been build around the Police patrol boat

A view over the Khao Lak beach, where many people perished, including and up to 2 kilometers inland

Phuket, Khao Lak and Takua Pa and all beaches and villages in-between were hit hard in Thailand.

It's amazing to see how Khao Lak has been build up again and how life goes on for the survivors, although they have been severely affected by the events 11 years ago.
