Car bomb or gas tank explosion last night at Central Festival Koh Samui
There was a car bomb or gas tank explosion last night at Central Festival Koh Samui in Chaweng around 10.30 or 11.30pm, reports are unclear about the exact time.
Initial reports were unclear about the cause of the explosion, whether it was a car bomb or an exploded LPG gas tank in a car.
Police and fire brigade at the scene
However, Governor Chatpong Chatput said the explosion was caused by a car bomb placed inside a pickup according to the Bangkok Post.
Early reports state that six to ten people got injured but there were no fatalities.
Unconfirmed reports state that there was a similar explosion at the Surat Thani Central Festival store at a similar time, but no official news report can confirm this at this stage.
