Blue skies and a few single clouds in the sky! Is this November on Koh Samui! Yes it is, at least the first week of the 2012 version! Enjoy it whilst it lasts, the much needed rain should be upon us sooner or later. Current temp at 7am is 26.4C
A flower in our late Thai spring, anybody knows the name?
Yesterday saw a merely sunny day with some warmer than usual temperatures and no sign of rain. Max temp reached 31.2C
The forecast predicts lovely weather, with some wind and rain this coming Monday and some more clouds towards the end of next week. Still, hardly any rain compared to other Novembers.

I found your blog and have been reading it with interest
We are thinking of coming to Thailand next august ,via Bangkok for 3 days
I have a 9 and 14 year old children
You mention the above hotel on your site
Can you provide me with your views
Is the weather ok, will it be too hot or lots of rain?
Is this a hotel with plenty of activities.
I would value your opinion having read your blog
Regards
peter
Hi Peter,
Thanks for your message. August is usually a real good month for Koh Samui, warm and a bit of rain (nothing to worry about, tropical showers!) which cools things down again a bit.
Please have a look at my archives, half way down the page on my Samui info and weather blog, right hand side, they go back a few years. Open a month that you’re interested in and check one of the last posts of each month, starting with ‘Goodbye to…………’ this post will tell you the weather conditions for that month.
You can also check each individual post for that month if you wish to.
The Centara Grand Beach in Chaweng is an outstanding hotel and has plenty in house activities and they also offer plenty of organized activities around the island through agents. The location in Chaweng is also very good, right next to plenty of restaurants and shops. In my opinion a good choice for your family and I will recommend it.
I hope this helps for now but please feel free to ask any other questions you may have regarding your stay on Koh Samui.
Camille
Thanks for this.
Some one did mention that the surrounding environment to centara can be quite dodgy?
Undesirables seeking you to visit massage parlours?
Is that an over exaggeration ?
Kind regards
Peter
Hi Peter,
In most tourist areas there will always be some ‘dodgy’ persons. To the best of my knowledge, there are also no dodgy massage parlors around the Centara anymore.
In my experience, in Chaweng, it’s all done with a smile and if you deny any invitation that’s pretty much the end of the story. In the same way as people on the streets all around Thailand in tourist areas will try to sell you something, just say no, don’t stop and smile, that’ll do the trick.
From my experience this sounds like an over exaggeration.
I do hope this helps but please feel free to ask any other questions you may have.
