Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 10th May, 2016

Today's weather;

A nice blue sky is about to reveal itself this early morning over Koh Samui and it should once more stay nice and sunny around the island. Current temp at 6am is already at 29C

On Phuket we have a cloudy sky shaping up with a current temp at 6am of 28C

This morning I will set off on a company trip to Tanboke National Park water falls in Krabi province near Ao Leuk. Will be back again tomorrow afternoon and expect a late weather update.

Yesterday saw a very warm day again and the current heatwave doesn't seem to be going anywhere. Max temp reached 34C

The forecast for the next ten days hasn't changed that much, it should be sunny and warm to hot until the weekend. Over the weekend heavy cloud layers may move in and maybe there will be a tropical shower but not a lot of rain. Temperatures are expected to remain stable.

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 9th May, 2016

Today's weather;

It's not as cloudy as the forecast predicted, it's actually fairly sunny around Koh Samui this morning and hopefully it will stay that way today. Current temp at 7am is 29C

On Phuket it's a bit hazy and partially cloudy, the sun is peeking through but at the moment still halfheartedly. Current temp at 7am is 30.1C

Yesterday saw once more a warm and partially sunny day around Koh Samui with a max temp of 34C

Evening snacks in Kata on Phuket, all kinds of barbecued food on sticks or some dried squid, a prime sample of food on wheels!

For the next ten days we should have a light breeze at times, mostly partially cloudy skies and occasionally some heavier clouds moving in. It looks like the 15th Samui Regatta that is scheduled to start the 21st May, may end up with some nice breeze or wind.

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 8th May, 2016

Today's weather;

It's partially cloudy over Koh Samui this morning and it most likely will stay this way today. My four friends are about to complete the Run the island, the 52km ring road loop around Koh Samui, well done! Current temp at 10am is 33C

It's a late update this morning since I participated in a 12km race in Thalang, Phuket and placed third in my age group. It's fairly cloudy here on Phuket and current temp at 10am is 32.4C

Yesterday saw a very hot day around Koh Samui with a max temp of 35C. The current heatwave is not giving any signs that it's giving in at all!

Third place in my age category in Thalang, Phuket at a 12km race this morning. my fifth race this year an all five races I won a trophy!

The forecast hasn't changed much, a bit of breeze on some days and a few cloudy days may be ahead but they will be followed by partially cloudy to sunny days. The next ten days the heatwave seems to continue!

Today's weather;

A beautiful sunny sky is shaping up over Koh Samui and it looks like the heat is staying on for another day! Over the Gulf of Thailand you can see clouds drifting along but over land it's mainly blue and sunny. Current temp at 7am is 30C

On Phuket we have a partially clouded sky and it is also still very hot here. Current temp at 7am is 29.2C

The current PADI IDC here on Phuket has already reached the half way mark today.

Yesterday saw another very hot day around Koh Samui, the max temp reached once more 34C

Sator and bananas for sale in Kata on Phuket. Sator is a vegetable used mainly in the Southern Thai kitchen and is a big bean that is a bit sour and has a very strong taste. I like it a lot but it's not to everyone's liking

The forecast hasn't changed a lot, a mix of partially cloudy skies to blue skies and a nice breeze at times with the chances of rain having been diminished again. The heatwave doesn't seem to be going away anytime soon.

A nice blue and sunny sky is shaping up over Koh Samui this morning. It might well stay like this for the remainder of the day, so enjoy! Current temp at 7am is 29C

On Phuket we have a mostly cloudy sky but it's dry. Current temp at 7am is 29.3C 

Yesterday the Northern part of the island near the airport had flash floods but here in Kata, in the South of the island where I am, it was dry as a cork.

The forecast remained more or less the same, a nice breeze at times and from sunny to partially or mostly cloudy skies at times but the chances of rain have increased. Hopefully the rain will cool down the island a bit.

Run the Island, Sunday 8th May

Run the Island, Sunday 8th May

Four of my running friends, will attempt to Run the Island, Sunday 8th May in order to raise money for the School for children with special needs and to set a new record for running the ring road around the island.

The Samui Special Needs School, which is currently building their new school premises are in need for money to complete the construction and the initial goal of the runners to raise at least 50,000.-THB has already been achieved, currently they already have raised just over 100,000.-THB and that's before they even start. Well done guys!

Run the Island, Sunday 8th May

Sunday morning at 3am they will start off from Anantara Bophut and they will be escorted by a support vehicle & medical care as safety is their number one priority when running through the early hours and live updates will be made through the Samui Runners Club Facebook page.

Denis and Laurent have already run ultra races, a distance being more than the marathon distance of 42.1km but for Michael and Andrea it will be the first time they will run more than the full marathon distance. It's going to be a challenge especially considering that Koh Samui has some serious hills along the ring road!

Good luck to all four of you and I wish I was there to join you during the run. Unfortunately I'm not on Koh Samui right now and can't participate, this coming Sunday morning I will run a 10km race on Phuket instead and be with them in my thoughts!

Today's weather;

It's a nice and very blue sky that's emerging this morning over Koh Samui and it looks like it's going to stay like this all day long, sunny and hot! Current temp at 7am is 30C

On Phuket we have a partially clouded sky with still plenty of blue here in Kata and a current temp of 30C.

Yesterday we saw a dry day after all around Koh Samui and the predicted rain didn't materialize. Instead it was sunny and hot with a max temp that reached 34C

The forecast for the next ten days around Koh Samui predicts partially to sometimes sporadic heavier cloud cover with a nice breeze blowing in and the possibility of a short shower is possible now, although for the time being, it will still be a rare occasion.

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 4th May, 2016

Today's weather;

It's a bit of a mixed bag over Koh Samui this morning. It' partially cloudy and at some parts of the island heavily clouded and some rain may be possible but over the ocean it looks very blue and nice. Later during the afternoon it may clear up a bit. Current temp at 7am is 30C

On Phuket I started the current May 2016 PADI IDC yesterday and we have a mixed bag of weather here as well. It's partially cloudy and clear towards the ocean but some parts of Phuket may experience thunder and lightning, I can hear the rumble and see the flashes in the distance. Current temp at 7am is 28.9C

Yesterday saw another warm day around Koh Samui without any rain and with a max temp of 33C

The forecast for Koh Samui predicts some rain this morning and after that it should be partially cloudy skies with a nice breeze at times and possibly some more showers towards the beginning of the weekend after this one, that's coming up soon.

Today's weather;

It's slightly hazy and partially cloudy over Koh Samui this morning but I expect it to clear up a bit during the day time. Current temp at 7am is 30C

On Phuket I'm about ready to start the May 2016 Phuket IDC after I already started the PADI IDCS Instructor course yesterday. All this under a light hazy sky and a current temp of 30C at 7am.

Yesterday saw a a partially cloudy sky over Koh Samui with a max temp of 33C. Still warm and hot and no immediate rain in sight at the moment but not as hot as last month was.

The forecast for Koh Samui predicts occasionally a little bit of a breeze at times, a mix of mostly blue skies with some clouds in it, sometimes a few heavily cloudy hours and not until mid to late next week maybe a few rain drops.

8th Samui Bike week, 6-7 May 2016

Next weekend sees already the 8th Samui Bike week, 6-7 May 2016 at Phru Chaweng or Chaweng lake. It's always fun to see lots of great and interesting looking big bikes. Custom is the order of the day. Have a look at pictures of the 2010 event here,

The vent is used for charity and all profit is given to a pre-destined organization. Go out to Chaweng lake and have a look or even take a ride with the big bikes on your own small 100cc bike, it will all add to the fun and nobody will look down on you.
