Today's weather;

There are some very thin clouds hanging over Koh Samui this early in the morning, but once the sun heats up, I assume that they will evaporate swiftly and a nice and hot day is in the making! Current temp at 7am is 26C

On Kata on Phuket, the current PADI IDC for February 2017 is about the enter it's third already and all this under lovely blue skies and warm days. Phuket is busy, sunny and warm! Current temp at 7am is 26,6C

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 11th February, 2017; View from Big Buddha towards Bang Rak bay. This is one of the bells that hang around the Big Buddha platform, where the statue is. You can get a wooden stick there and walk around the platform and hit each bell with your wooden stick, for good luck

Yesterday saw a lovely day around Koh Samui with sunny skies and it was warm, with a max temp of 32C

The forecast for the next seven days hasn't changed that much, between this afternoon and tomorrow morning but plenty of sunshine after that again for the rest of the week, maybe with a partially clouded sky. Enjoy.

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 10^th February, 2017

Today's weather;

Yesterday there was no update thanks to Bill Gates. Windows 10 was updating to a new version, but after 15 hours without any movement, and a previous 7 hours of getting a 42% part update, I decided that was enough and re-booted my computer. It was way too late in the afternoon, early evening to post an update. So, thanks but no thanks Bill!

A lovely blue sky is shaping up over Koh Samui and it looks like it's going to be a hot day today! Be prepared and don't get sunburned, it happens faster than you think, especially when you drive a motorbike. The wind is cool but the sun may seriously burn you! Either wear long sleeved shirts or apply sun lotion on a regular base. Enjoy the day though! Current temp at 7am is 24C

Since two days I'm back in Kata on Phuket now and yesterday the February PADI IDC started here, an update is to follow later today. There are great conditions here as well, with mainly sunny skies and warm days. Current temp at 7am at Kata beach is 25C

Yesterday saw a nice., warm and sunny day with a few isolated clouds in the sky and a max temp of 31C

The forecast for the next seven days is looking good. Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning may see some rain and strong wind but other than that it is sunny skies and warm weather.

Today's weather;

The sky is blue, the sun is red hot and you have the ingredients for a lovely day around Koh Samui today. A few isolated clouds may be looming around but better have the sun lotion within hand reach today. Current temp at 7am is 27C

On Koh Lanta my PADI IDC candidates all successfully passed the PADI IE, all seven of them, with flying colors! There are some clouds in the sky but it's very blue and it looks like another hot day is in the making. Current temp at 7am is 24C

This morning I will drive over to Phuket and start a new PADI IDC program there tomorrow.

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 8th February, 2017; A small altar in the Guanyin temple in Pangka Ka, the Southern part of the island. Very much out of the way of everything but well worth a visit, not only for the temple but to see the unspoiled part of our island

Yesterday saw a nice and warm day around Koh Samui with plenty of sunshine but also with a nice breeze which cooled things down a bit. Max temp reached 31C

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 8th February, 2017; Tinglish (a mix between English and Thai) can be very funny at times. This building can be found near Ban Saladan on Koh Lanta, next to the police station. Let the games begin?

The forecast for the next seven days remains looking good. Possibly a bit cloudy tomorrow, and as of Sunday some stronger wind and possibly some isolated rain showers on Saturday. Plenty of sunshine ahead of us though and a great time to relax at the beach, take a dive trip or dive course and enjoy the excellent current diving conditions, or participate in one of the island tours you can book through me, a half day gourmet picnic and snorkeling trip, a photography tour or a drinks tasting tour.

Today's weather;

Blue skies and sunshine, that's what you will get today around Koh Samui, from early in the morning until late afternoon. Beach time! Current temp at 7am is 26C

On Koh Lanta we have a few thin clouds up in the sky but plenty of blue out there as well with the sun starting to warm up and probably ready to blast away the cloud layers. Current temp at 7am is 25C

Yesterday all IDC candidates passed their first day of the PADI IE, around mid day we should have seven new PADI Instructors!

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 7th February, 2017; Big Buddha baking in the sun. It's hot and sunny around Koh Samui, enjoy it!

Yesterday saw a very nice day around Koh Samui with blue skies and it got hot again, the max temp reached 33C

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 7th February, 2017; One of the ferries connecting Koh Lanta with Koh Phi Phi and Phuket. There are also ferries going 'the other way', they're going south bond towards Koh Lipe and further on into Malaysia. Most if not all of these ferries dock and leave from the Ban Saladan pier, in the northern part of the island.

The forecast is looking great, sunny skies more or less for the next seven days with stronger wind come the weekend. Enjoy, go to the beach but don't get sunburned, take a dive trip, go on a trip around the island, participate in a gourmet lunch and snorkel trip, participate in a photography tour or sign up for the drinks tasting trip. All great activities to participate in when on the island. Life's a beach!

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 6^th February, 2017

Today's weather;

It's a fantastic day in the making around Koh Samui, a glorious day in the making with early morning blue skies and it's going to be warm to hot. A day to have the sun lotion with hand reach, wherever you are if you're out and about. Current temp ta 7am is 26C

On Koh Lanta a warm and sunny day  seems also the be in the making and it's showtime for my PADI IDC candidates, since today the PADI IE or exams start. They should be ready though and tomorrow afternoon I hope that I can welcome seven new PADI instructors to the world! 

Yesterday there was no update since I was on the boats all day long, from 6 in the morning until almost 5 in the afternoon.

Current temp at 7am on Koh Lanta is a 26.5C

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 6th February, 2017; Three deities at Wat Lamai, overlooking the scene! Be careful when visiting this Wat or temple, if you enter and walk to the left, to the Museum, there's a vicious brown colored dog who likes to bite people.

Yesterday saw  partly clouded to very sunny day all around Koh Samui and it's starting to warm up again, slowly but surely. Max temp reached 33C and it's been a while since we clocked these kind of temperatures.

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 6th February, 2017; Sunrise over Ban Saladan on Koh Lanta yesterday morning, on the boat setting up the dive equipment. What a great way to start the day and what a privilege to be able to witness such beautiful part of the day. Another day in paradise! This morning I was out and about for an early morning run and enjoyed another beautiful early morning sunrise. 

The next seven days are looking good. Partially clouded ti sunny skies are expected around Koh Samui with possibly some strong wind come next weekend. 

Enjoy it and book a tour, diving or around the island , get out and be active. Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 4^th February, 2017

Today's weather;

It's time to start flocking back to Koh Samui again! This morning sees lovely blue skies all over the island and it should stay like that all day long! Current temp at 7am is 26C

On Koh Lanta we also have a lovely blue sky shaping up, with a a few lone and thin clouds in it. Current temp at 7am is 25C

A few of my PADI IDC candidates and myself will be on the boat, diving over the next two days, before the PADI IE start on Monday morning! But first it's time to enjoy and relax.

Yesterday saw an interesting day with some rain and at some places on the island, very hard rain, but in our North Eastern part of the island, it was cloudy but stayed dry all day long. Max temp reached 30C

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 4th February, 2017; View towards the bridge connecting the two Lanta islands, Koh Lanta Yai and Koh Lanta Noi. Koh Lanta Yai is where all the development and tourist action is and that's where this picture is taken. The bridge is great, since it eliminated the need of using the very small ferries that caused massive traffic jams and waiting times to get on or off the island and opened less than a year ago

There forecast for the next seven days is looking very good, how about blue skies with occasionally a cloud in it? Excellent conditions to relax at the beach or go out and about and see and explore the island, on your own or with a tour, like the tour options that you can book through me, the half day gourmet picnic and snorkel tour, the photography tour or the drinks tasting tour. Diving is also top notch now, with the water clarity getting better each day and lots of fish to see and flat oceans. Today's weather;

It's mostly cloudy over land, with at some places some dark clouds and possibly some rain and over the ocean it's partially cloudy with the sun coming out around Koh Samui this early in the day. There may be another shower today and the sun may break through at times as well/ Showers should be sort and relatively light, if at all. Las night there were also some showers. Current temp at 7am is 26C

On Koh Lanta we have a partially cloudy sky and possibly a sunny day ahead of us, providing the sun can burn the clouds away. Current temp at 7am is 25C

Yesterday saw a partially cloudy day with plenty of sun around the island and it was fairly warm with the max temp reaching 32C

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 3rd February, 2017; A small snake with a relatively long body, spotted at the pier at Ban Saladan on Koh Lanta, part of his body can be seen among the plans on the left bottom corner. Any idea what species this is? It was maybe half a meter long.

The forecast for the next seven days has changed slightly with some rather unexpected rain predicted for today but the rest of the weekend and next week should be sunny to partially cloudy again and in general is showing a very pleasant weather forecast. Today's weather;

There's a very thin cloud layer early this morning over Koh Samui and it might stay slightly cloudy today. It seems that the sun is working very hard to dissolve the clouds, meaning that you my expect some sunshine today as well and it should stay dry today. Current temp at 7am is 23C

On Koh Lanta we have a similar partially cloudy sky and I expect it to be a nice and sunny day, but yesterday the day started out the same here but ended up being cloudy all day long. Current temp at 7am on Koh Lanta is 22C

Welcome to February 2017

Welcome to February 2017

Hi and Welcome to February 2017, one of the best months in the year to visit Koh Samui! It's usually very nice and sunny without having the scorching hot temperatures that we have later in the year and there's not much to hardly any rain. A perfect month to visit.

A great month for diving, clear water and flat oceans or to participate in other water or land based activities or join one of the tours on the island that I endorse, the half day picnic and snorkel trip, a photography trip or a drinks tasting tour. Well worth your time, enjoyable and relaxed.

Until half way through the month I will be on the road, currently I'm on Koh Lanta for a PADI IDC and once that is over I will go straight to Phuket to start another PADI IDC program on 9th February.

Come 16th February it's time to celebrate, this bog will turn 10 years young!

Come Sunday 19th February I will run my first race of the year, the Surat Thani marathon and I plan to finish in under four hours.

Today's weather;

It's fairly cloudy over Koh Samui this morning but the sun should start to dissolve the clouds fairly quickly, one it heats up. It should stay dry today and become sunny. Current temp at 7am is 25C

On Koh Lanta the current PADI IDC has already passed the halfway mark and later today we go out on the boat for some open water training dives. The sky is nice and blue and it looks like another warm and sunny day is in the making here. Current temp at 7am is 23C

“A folklore of Samui Island tells the story of an old couple by the name of Ta Kreng (Grandpa Kreng) and Yai Riem (Grandma Riem) who lived with their son in the southern province of Nakhon Si Thammarat. Since their son had come of age, they felt that it was time he got married. “One day they decided to sail to the neighbouring province of Prachuap Khiri Khan to ask for the hand of the daughter of a man named Ta Monglai. During their sea journey, their boat was seized by a storm. The old man and his wife were unable to swim ashore. They died at sea, turning into rocks as proof to the would-be bride's parents of their true intentions. The rocks stand there to this day.”
