It's time to get the monthly 'Food on Wheels' series another boost and this time around it's a kind of rather interesting picture. It's also one of the very rare pictures that hasn't been taken by myself but still, I don't want to with hold it.

Today's weather;

The sky over Koh Samui is slightly cloudy with a bit of sunshine thrown in. Current temp at 7am is 23.3C

On Koh Lanta, it's a bit more cloudy this morning but it looks like the sun will vaporize the morning clouds rather quickly. Current temp at 7am is around 24C

Yesterday saw a fairly hazy day around Samui island with a bit of sunshine and no rain. Max temp reached 29C

The forecast predicts mostly fairly sunny days except for Friday and Saturday which may see some rain and stronger wind.

Today's weather;

The sky over Koh Samui is mostly cloudy this morning and could clear up late during the afternoon. Current temp at 7am is 24.8C

On Koh Lanta the sky is looking nice, mostly blue with a few clouds and a current temp at 7am of around 25C

Yesterday was fairly cloudy around the island with some very strong rain around midnight. Max temp reached 31C

On Koh Lanta it was a 'typical' day, blue, sunny skies all day long with clouds during the late afternoon. Max temp reached 32C

The forecast predicts cloudy skies tomorrow until around noon, mostly cloudy and rain Friday and Saturday and nice and sunny afterwards.

It's looking like it's going to be a sunny day on Koh Samui. Current temp at 7am is around 26C

On Koh Lanta it looks hazy but the sky is mostly blue. All is set for a hot day! Current temp at 7am is 25.5C

Today's weather;

Koh Samui is slightly cloudy this morning but it should clear up and become nice and sunny later today. Current temp at 7am is 23.9C

On Koh Lanta, where I started a PADI IDC yesterday, it's also partly cloudy but the sun is hanging low in the sky, ready to burn it's way through any cloud layer. Current temp at 7am here is around 23C

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 4th January, 2014

Today's weather;

Koh Samui has a nice blue sky to show for this morning with just a few clouds in it. Current temp at 7am is 23.6C

On Koh Lanta, where I will start a PADI IDC later today, it's fairly cloudy with a current temp of 25C

Yesterday started out really nice with clear blue skies, Closer to Koh Lanta a few clouds showed up and near the Lanta ferry there was even a surprise shower for a few minutes, the first rain since about 3 weeks here. Max temp on Samui reached 30C

The ride over between the two islands was relaxed and easy, it wasn't as busy as I expected it to be. However, on the Highway 44, I had 12 motorbikes, a tricycle motorbike, 3 cars and two trucks come against traffic on the hard shoulder. Driving in Thailand is always interesting!

This leads to the last update on the 'seven dangerous days'; A total of 366 people were killed and 3,345 injured in 3,174 road accidents during the "seven dangerous days" of the New Year holiday period, the Road Safety Centre announced yesterday. Nakhon Ratchasima had the highest number of fatalities with 21, followed by Surat Thani with 16 and Udon Thani with 14 cases from December 27 to January 2.

On January 2, the last of the seven days, about 32 people died and 304 people were injured in 283 road accidents.

Drunk driving and speeding were the main causes for the accidents at 33 per cent and 29 per cent respectively, he said. Most accidents - 79 per cent - involved motorcycles, while 8 per cent involved pickup trucks.

The forecast shows mostly nice and sunny skies over Samui for the next 7 days, except maybe some rain come Friday.

Today's weather;

It's mostly clouded this morning around Koh Samui but the sun might be making a comeback later today. Current temp at 7am is 23.4C

Today I will be on the road again for all of this month, first I will be on Koh Lanta and straight afterwards on Gili Air in Indonesia.

The sixth day of the "seven dangerous New Year holidays" on Wednesday saw 68 people killed and 539 others injured in 536 road accidents nationwide, the Road Safety Directing Centre announced Thursday.

Deputy Interior Minister Visarn Techateerawat represented the centre to announce that the accumulated death toll from December 27 to New Year Day was 334 and the period saw 3,041 others injured.

Drunk driving was the biggest cause of the road accidents, he said. From The Nation

Today's weather;

It's cloudy around Koh Samui this morning but there are some light openings where the sun tries to break through. Current temp at 7am is 25.4C

the Road Safety Centre yesterday reported that 266 people had been killed and 2,502 others injured in 2,355 road accidents during the first five days of the New Year holidays. The national police chief's assistant, Pol Lt-General Ruangsak Jarit-ake, reported that 57 people had been killed and 571 injured in 537 accidents on New Year's Eve alone, while drunk driving and speeding were the major causes at 47.86 and 28.49 per cent respectively.

Welcome to January 2014

Welcome to January and the brand new year of 2014.

Usually January is a nice month with plenty of sunshine and sometimes a bit of rain. Scrolling back in my blog only shows 2008 and 2011 as not being that great for the local weather conditions and the forecast looks good for the next 7 days!

Today's weather;

Welcome to 2014!

It's still grey and cloudy out there but dry around Koh Samui! Current temp at 7am is 25.7C

The road madness continues though, yesterday Samui's roads were clogged with very slow moving traffic and many motorbike drivers weaving in and out of traffic at way too fats speeds.

After four days of the so-called "seven dangerous days" of New Year, the 2013-14 holiday period has claimed 209 lives and injured 1,931 persons in a total of 1,818 road accidents, the Road Safety Centre reported yesterday. Sad statistics.

The forecast seems to be sticking to it's prediction and the clouds may clear up, the wind drop and the sun may come out over the next couple of days.
