Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 9th November, 2015

Today's weather;

It's partially cloudy this morning over Koh Samui and the sun is taking the overhand at the moment. Later today there may be some showers. Current temp at 7am is 27C

Back in Khao Lak we also have a partially cloudy sky with sunshine. Very similar to yesterday, although we had a very wet afternoon and evening. Current temp at 7am is 25C

Yesterday saw a lovely morning around Koh Samui with plenty of sunshine. Later during the afternoon and evening there was rain again.

The forecast has changed slightly and now we have more clouds and a bit of rain again in the cards until Sunday. On Sunday it may clear up again with less clouds, more sunshine and less rain.

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 8th November, 2015

Today's weather;

It's partially cloudy this morning over Koh Samui and the sun is breaking through and it looks like it's going to be a lovely November day, with flat seas and sunny skies. The boat operators are happy again! Current temp at 8.30am is 29C

This morning I ran a 12km race in Tambon Sisunthon on Phuket in 1:01'01, with a 4'53 pace, which for my doing is pretty fast. It's also partially cloudy here at current temp at 8.30am is 27.2C. Once I'm done here I will be on my to Khao Lak again to continue with the current November PADI IDC.

Yesterday saw bits and pieces of sunshine again around Koh Samui but there was also some rain at times. Max temp reached 29C

The forecast is still looking good for the next ten days, partially cloudy skies with sunshine and occasionally a tropical shower. Well above average for a typical November day, so enjoy while it lasts!

Today's weather;

It's mostly cloudy over Koh Samui but it's dry and the sun is slowly breaking through and it should stay like this for the remainder of today. Current temp at 7am is 24C

In Khao Lak it's very similar, partially cloudy with plenty of blue spots in the sky, Current temp at 7am is 24C

Yesterday saw some rain around Koh Samui island but not as much as during previous days and the sun broke through at some rare moments as well. Max temp reached 29C

The forecast has improved a bit, over the next ten days we can expect more sunny moments and a lot less rain, Be prepared for an occasional tropical shower but nor for hard, long rain anymore. Enjoy, the weather looks a lot more pleasant now than it was during the past week.

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 6th November, 2015

Today's weather;

Koh Samui is covered under a heavy cloud blanket this morning. It looks like it may start to rain although the forecast predicts not too much rain and actually a clearer sky around 4pm. Current temp at 7am is 26C

In Khao Lak we also have a heavy cloud formations in the sky although ti's dry at the moment. Yesterday around 4pm we had the first serious rain since I arrive a few days ago. Current temp at 7am here is 26C

Yesterday saw the by now familiar clouds and rain during the morning but during the afternoon it cleared up, the sun came out and it was warm again. Max temp reached 32C

Construction in Khao Lak keeps booming, this is near Rua 813 and International Tsunami memorial, a massive complex of two or three buildings. This area used to be a wide open space and now every time I come back here, new building arise.

The forecast has changed a bit and for the better. Over the next ten days there should be a lot less cloud cover and rain and possibly the sun could come out and warm things up again around the island. Enjoy!

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 5th November, 2015

Today's weather

It's drizzling in our part of Koh Samui but it looks like other parts of the island are dry this early in the morning. It should be mostly dry for the rest of the day, let's see if the forecast can keep that promise. Current temp at 7am is 25C

In Khao Lak we have once more a cloudy sky but it's dry and currently, since I've been here, we have a partially blue sky during the afternoon, with sunny moments. Current temp at 7am is 28C

Yesterday saw rain during most of the day around Koh Samui. Max temp reached 28C

Rua or boat 813 is a constant reminder of the devastating tsunami that hit Khao Lak almost 11 years ago now. It's interesting to see how the area or memorial place where the boat is located keeps changing over time.

The forecast predicts some breaks in the at times heavy cloud cover as of tomorrow with light showers here and there. Come next week Tuesday, we may expect the heavy clouds and more and steady rain to move in again.

Today's weather;

It's still raining on Koh Samui, relentlessly at the moment and the forecast for today is plenty of more to come today! Current temp at 7am is 25C

Back in Khao Lak, it's mostly cloudy with some isolated blue spots and dry! Current temp here is 27C

Yesterday saw almost all day long rain, in various degrees of strength and amounts. Max temp reached 28C

The forecast shows some improvement, today shows still a lot of rain to come down but as of tomorrow there may be less cloudy skies and a lot less rain. By mid next week the clouds and rain may pick again. Let's hope for the best, since the forecast seems to change day by day at the moment.

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 3rd November, 2015

Today's weather;

The sky over Koh Samui is grey and wet again and it's raining all morning already, with a forecast of at least a steady drizzle all day long. Current temp at 7am is 26C

In Khao Lak the PADI IDC for November has started and the weather conditions are a lot better here. It's cloudy but dry and occasionally there are some sunny moments. Current temp at 7am here is 24C

Yesterday saw a wet morning Koh Samui but during the afternoon the clouds broke up and the sun came through which made for a nice afternoon. During the night it started to rain again and pretty much all night long it rained. Max temp reached 30C

The forecast predicts lots of cloud cover over the next ten days and rain on most days although Wednesday afternoon and all of Thursday may be dry. The rainy season seems to be in full swing around Koh Samui, this early in the month.

Welcome to November 2015

We're already on the second day of November, time to say 'Welcome to November 2015'. 

The weather during November is usually among the wettest during the whole year. November is known for the monsoon or rainy season and a typical November will see lots of rain, in the worst case scenario, a few days in a row with almost uninterrupted rain.

The start of this month has already been very wet, we can only hope that it will get better.

Loy Kratong will be 25th November 

What you don't want to miss out on is the Rua Chak Phra festival in Nathon from 4-12 November and you may spot the odd or more than just that one boat floating the streets of Koh Samui.

The next big event on the agenda this month will be Loy Kratong come 25th November. Another must see and experience festival. The roots of this Buddhist festival date back to around 1800.

'Loy' means to float and a 'kratong' is a floating object. In the case of Loy Kratong, this typically is a slice of a banana trunk that is decorated with elaborately folded banana leaves, flowers, candles and incense sticks. 

Thai people also add some cut off hair and fingernails and 9 Thai Baht to the kratong and float them off in a river, lake or the ocean as a way of letting go of the bad in them and they believe that the festival will bring good luck.

Enjoy the festivals and hopefully it won't rain too much.

Today's weather;

It's grey and wet around Koh Samui this morning, with a steady rain coming down. It should clear up during the afternoon though and the sun may come up to play. Current temp at 7am is 26C

Here in Khao Lak, where I will start a PADI IDC today, we have a cloudy sly but it's dry, at least for the time being. We may have some sunshine later today but a shower is in the cards as well, during the morning most likely. Current temp at 7am is 25C

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 1st November, 2015

Today's weather;

It's already 9pm when I'm writing this update, the reason is that it's been a hectic day. It started out really good with a great half marathon race in Surat Thani town, but when I got back to my hotel room, my hard disk had crashed and the only thing I saw was the black screen of death. Long story short, I had to buy a new computer/laptop and it took me a while to buy it, drive down to Khao Lak, where I start a PADI IDC tomorrow and get my new laptop up and running. 

Here I am at last.

I'm going to keep it short, it rained a lot and hard on Samui during the morning and it didn't get very warm. Current temp at 9pm is 26C

Yesterday saw a bit of rain again on Samui, during the afternoon. Max temp reached 31C

The forecast for the next ten days is a perfect mixed bag, cloudy and sunny moments will be coming on and off with rain showers possible at any time.
