Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 5th September, 2014

Today's weather;

It's mostly cloudy over Koh Samui with a bleak sun trying to have an impact. Current temp at 8.30am is around 28C

Yesterday evening I arrived at Tosari on Mount Bromo in Indonesia, where this Sunday the Bromo marathon will take place and i will participate in the half marathon. It's nice and sunny here with a current temp at 8.30am of 23C

It's going to be a real tough race, everything is up and down here!

Yesterday saw a nice and sunny day around Koh Samui with a max temp of 34.2C

The forecast has changed for the third day in a row and it's not looking good at all. A storm with lots of wind is due in the early morning tomorrow and will last for three days, before the wind will slow down but it will still be strong!

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 4th September, 2014

Today's weather;

It's a nice, mostly blue sky over Koh Samui this morning with clouds lurking over the ocean. Current temp at 7am is 25.4C

Right now I'm near Surabaya's airport Juanda in Indonesia, waiting for an afternoon transfer to Mount Bromo for Sunday's half marathon. It's partly cloudy here and I'm back in the same time zone again as Samui with a current temp at 7am of 23C

Yesterday saw a mixed bag with clouds and sunny moments around Samui and a max temp of 33C

The forecast has changed drastically once more, today should be nice and sunny but as of tomorrow wind moves in again, culminating in what looks like a small storm come Saturday afternoon with the wind sticking around for the rest of the week. Expect some showers during the next 7 days.

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 3rd September, 2014

Today's weather;

It's partly cloudy this morning on Koh Samui, it looks like there may be some sunshine later today. Current temp at 6.30am is 26C

This morning I find myself back at Ngurah Rai airport in Denpasar on Bali, Indonesia, waiting for my delayed flight from 7am to 8.40am, to Surabaya. This gives me time to write my blog entries earlier than expected today! It's partly clouded here with a current temp of 22C at 7.30am local time.

The Mount Bromo half marathon is getting real close by now, this Sunday it will be show time!

Mr. Tekkor in 2005, anybody remember this small eatery in Chaweng, behind the Green Mango? It was one of my faves back in the day but now long gone, unfortunately.

Yesterday saw a mostly cloudy but dry day around Samui with a max temp of 31C

The forecast has a drastic change for the weekend, from Friday night onward it will be stormy, especially during Saturday but come Sunday it should be calm and nicer again, Monday might see sunshine again.

It's very cloudy around Koh Samui this morning and it looks like there may be rain later today. Current temp at 6.30am is 26C

On Gili Air in Indonesia we also have some clouds in the sky, one of the few times since I arrived. Current temp at 7.30am local time is 24C

Welcome to September 2014

September is in the air and in good Samui info and weather blog tradition, here is a brief preview on the weather in September.

The weather is usually fairly good during September, plenty of sunshine although towards the end of the month some strong wind and an occasional shower, although nothing too major or serious could occur. The nice August weather is typically carried over into September and lots of sunshine should be around.

Just over 10 years ago, on the right is the road that leads to the departures of the airport as it is today. On the right corner is now a 7-11 (what else?) and there's a lot more buildings now in general. If you like this picture, I have a few more from this series, let me know and I will post some more

This September will see me back on the island late during 9th September and I should be for the remained of the month on Samui. I'm looking forward spending some time with my family.

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 1st September, 2014

Today's weather;

It's very cloudy over Koh Samui this morning and the morning could bring some rain. Maybe a trace. Current temp at 6.30am is 26C

On Gili Air in Indonesia it's a full blue sky once more. Since I arrived just over 2 weeks ago, it has been this lovely with nice and cool mornings. Current temp at 7.30am local time is 21C

It's my last full day here and the last day of Specialty Instructor training. 12 dives I will have done with my students over the last 5 days, including today and two dives before the start of the recent PADI IE here.

Tomorrow it's off to Bali and the day after to Surabaya, after which I will arrive on Mount Bromo for the half marathon held on 7th September.

Yesterday saw a nice and warm around the island with an isolated shower possible at some parts of the island. Max temp reached 33C

Today's weather;

It's fairly cloudy but dry over Koh Samui this morning and I wouldn't be surprised if the sun breaks through shortly on this last August 2014 day. Current temp at 7am is 26.3C

On Gili Air in Indonesia, we continue with blue morning skies. Current temp at 8am local time is 25C. Probably clouds during the afternoon again. 

Just two more days here and I will be slowly making my way towards Mount Bromo for the half marathon there come 7th September.

Goodbye to August 2014

It's the last day of August 2014 and as tradition on this blog has it, it's time to say goodbye and look back at this August edition.

The weather was really good, lots of sunshine and sunny days and just occasionally some rain. An excellent August! Almost as good as they come. There were also exceptional good dive conditions in case you are a diver, whale shark sightings at the beginning of the month and great viz right now!

For me it was a very busy month, which started me still being in South Korea for a PADI IDC, PADI IE and specialty instructor training. It was my second time in Korea and I really enjoyed, again!

After having been home for just 3 days, I was en route again and am currently on Gili Air in Indonesia, having just completed a PADI IDC, PADI IE and am now in the middle of Specialty Instructor training. Next month I will be running my first ever race in Indonesia, 7th September the Bromo half marathon is on my schedule!

Due to the busy schedule, the only dinner I had on Samui was at Kobori in Maenam, an excellent Japanese restaurant. Well worth a visit!

Thanks for checking in this month and hope to see you back in September! I should be spending some time now on Samui, until mid October and am looking forward to it.
