Wat Plai Laem Temple party 11-20 February 2012

If you live in Plai Laem, near the local Temple or Wat, you may have to get used to some noise during the night, since the Wat Plai Laem Temple party is on between 11th and 20th February.

These Temple fairs usually have a band or singer on stage each night and this years' big star is Kotee Aramboy, a 'superstar' famous from TV shows and big screen movies in Thailand. He seems to be have been around since I just arrived in Thailand, back in 1999, when he was very young to the scene

Besides music and entertainment, there will be the usual food and clothes and who knows what sales tents around the Temple premises. More pictures and posts will follow in due time.

The main stage is being erected

Preparations for the fair are in full swing and the main stage is being erected in front of the main building. The music is already blaring at fairly decent noise levels, always an interesting observation how most Thai people think absolutely nothing about hard to very hard noise levels.

The term 'noise pollution' still has to be invented here.

It's well worth visiting the Temple grounds at least one day or night during the fair, enjoy some of the (junk) food on display and in general just enjoy the hustle and bustle of day at the temple fair.

Yesterday saw a sunny and warm day all around Koh Samui. Max temp reached 29.8C

The next 7 days may see slightly more wind tomorrow and Friday with possibly a rain drop, for the rest sunshine seems to be predicted.

The sky over Koh Samui looks great, almost non stop blue as far as the eye can see. Current temp at 7am is 25C

Yesterday saw a warm and very sunny day around Koh Samui, sunshine all day long and hardly any cloud to be seen. Max temp reached 30.3C

The forecast is still looking good for the next 7 days, the wind has been reduced and is restricted to Thursday and occasionally some rain is predicted, nothing too serious or worry about.

Today's weather;

It's a little bit cool outside this morning, just 25.2C at 7am, which usually indicates that there's plenty of blue spots in the sky or in this case, Koh Samui can show off an almost entire blue sky. Sunbathers have a job to do.

Yesterday saw lots of cloud cover around Koh Samui with occasionally some sunshine. Max temp reached 28.6C

The forecast for the next 7 days is looking great, with lots of sunshine until the weekend, the predicted wind has almost disappeared but rain has replaced the wind.

It's fairly cloudy this morning but there are enough blue spots to allow soem sunshine today around Koh Samui. Current temp at 7am is 27.2C

Yesterday's morning sky changed rapidly in plenty of cloud cover with just a few blue spots. There was sunshine later in the day though. Max temp around Koh Samui reached 28.5C

The forecast is looking good, sunny weather for the next 7 days with the wind picking up around next weekend.

Welcome to February 2012

Welcome to February 2012

And it's a special February, one with 29 days instead of the usual 28! A leap year. Another reason why this February is special is because it has been 5 years ago, in February 2007 that I started this blog. A real lustrum in the making!

On to the weather, February on Koh Samui is typically a nice month with plenty of sunshine and just a little bit of rain. A very good month to visit, good weather and rather quiet, what else can you ask for.

Koh Samui's sky is a mixed bag with a tendency to have more blue spots than white fluffy clouds. Current temp at 7am is 27.5C

Clouds and blue sky over Chaweng yesterday, the story of the day

Yesterday saw a plenty of blue sky around the North East part of Koh Samui, however the mountains in the middle of the island had some dark clouds hovering above them. In our part of the island it was dry all day. The predicted wind also came out and about, not in the morning but around noon it picked up with force to stay for the remainder of the day. Max temp reached 29.1C

The forecast is looking good, mainly slightly clouded days with plenty of opportunities for sunshine, laced with occasional showers.
