Leonardo Ice Cream

During the weekend we did a trip around the island and we discovered a new ice cream vendor on the island; Leonardo Ice Cream.

The signs for the shop were noted by me but didn't really register, until we visited Hin Ta Hin Yai as part of our trip and between Hin Ta and the parking lot, is one of their three outlets, manned by Francesco, one of the three owners of Leonardo Ice Cream.

He immediately asked us if we wanted to taste some of the ice cream and we were more than happy to oblige. A visit to an ice cream shop was on the list of things to do for that day. 

In short, we were blown away and immediately decided to make our ice cream stop right there at that moment. We have a new official favorite ice cream shop on the island; Leonardo Ice Cream!

They offer sorbets, made after a Frnech recipe from Corsica, delivered by Philippe, another owner. They decided however to fly it under one flag; Leonardo Ice Cream. 

I had a sorbet with Apple Cinnamon and it was truly like eating an apple pie, 100% without sugar on top of that. Our children had the pistachio ice cream and that was heavenly, with real pistachio chunks in it.

There are three outlets, the one pictured above at Big Buddha, currently manned by Matteo, the outlet at Hin Ta Hin Yai, currently staffed by Francesco (pictured below) and the main outlet and factory in Lamai, manned by the third owner, Simone.

Besides the three outlets, they also deliver to some of the hotels around Samui. Those lucky guests!

There are no scoops, but just plain straightforward cups and they go for 100.-THB per cup, but you can try out a few of their tastes, before you decide on which one to settle. 

Very friendly service and great taste, comes highly recommended by all of us, the Lemmens clan on Samui!

There's a thin cloud layer over Koh Samui this morning, which most likely will burn off once the sun starts heating up. Current temp at 7am is 23.9C

Yesterday saw a mostly sunny day around Koh Samui with a nice and agreeable temperature. Max temp reached 28.8C

The forecast didn't change much, mostly nice, mostly sunny days with a coll breeze is predicted for the next seven days.

Koh Samui Midnight Run 2015

The date is set for the third Koh Samui Midnight Run 2015, it will be held 21st March in Chaweng with the start at the Reggae Pub, once more.

The race route will lead the runners through the busy Chaweng Beach road, smack down the Chaweng center, passing through the busy Soi Green Mango, among others.

Participants can choose between a 5km and a 10km run, which will be either one or two loops. The race route is similar to previous years and over 1000 runners are expected to participate.

This is a charity event and is organized by the Thai Hotel Association chapter Koh Samui (THA) and the proceeds will go to Koh Samui's New School for Autistic Children and to the Green Project, supported by THA.

The Koh Samui Midnight Run 2015 is proving to be a steady visitor of the yearly Samui events list, and it's growing in popularity each year. Make sure you don't miss out on this local Samui running event.

Unfortunately it looks like I won't be able to defend my successive two year run of 2nd places in my age category, at this moment it looks like I may be away from Samui for the Koh Samui Midnight Run 2015.

A blue sky is shaping up over Koh Samui with the clouds being burned away by the rising sun. Current temp at 7am is 26.6C

Yesterday we went for a trip around the island and had a fantastic, very tasty lunch at Sweet Sisters. This restaurant also come highly recommended! Open from 11am to 9pm in the 'deep South' of Samui.

Yesterday saw a nice and sunny day. Sunny skies but not too hot, that's the beauty of January. Max temp of 28.2C

It's nice and sunny outside with mostly blue skies and a few clouds in it all around Koh Samui this lovely morning. Current temp at 7am is 26.6C

Eralier this week we had dinner at Kobori, a Japanese restaurant in Maenam, still one of our faves on the island and comes highly recommended. Open since almost a year now.
