Goodbye to December 2018

Goodbye to December 2018

Before we get ready for the New Year celebrations, it's first time to say Goodbye to December 2018.
The first two weeks of this December 2018 version were as can be expected of a rainy season. Wet and windy. Plenty of flash floods and cloudy skies.
The last two weeks of this month were much better. Plenty of sunshine with just occasionally a shower.
A very typical December, one almost straight out of the text book.

Goodbye to December 2018

Goodbye to December 2018; Big Buddha just a few days ago. Busy at this time of the year and under a blue-ish sky.

Part of last month I did spent on Phuket for a PADI IDC and two weekends were spent in Surat Thani. Four consecutive weeks I had mini marathon races. In Thailand that means an approximate 10km distance. I was very successful with this, resulting in a 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th place in my age group of 50-59 years.
This last weekend of the year is being spend on Koh Samui though. We're still debating on where to go tonight for the fireworks.

Enjoy the New year celebrations but remember, don't drink and drive! Be safe!

All the best for 2019

Please do 'like' my Koh Samui blog Facebook page and enjoy the beaches around the island or in front of your hotel or resort and get some well deserved rest and a break.

If you're done resting or need something else to do, there's plenty of things on offer on and around Koh Samui, you can go snorkeling or diving or take a dive course.

You can also enjoy some of the trips I recommend, like a half day gourmet lunch and snorkeling trip at the Southern part of Koh Samui or a photography trip where you get to see the most photo genetic spots on the island or go for a drinks tasting tour if you like a tipple or two.

You may also opt for a very special dinner experience at The Thai Experience. Behind closed doors, reservation only and a very enjoyable and well worthwhile way of spending an evening on Samui. Authentic Thai food and a great atmosphere. Can highly recommend this experience.

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 24th December – 30th December 2018

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 24th December – 30th December 2018

Sunday morning and the last long and slow distance run of this year has been completed and it's time for the Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 24th December – 30th December 2018.

This morning it's partially to fully cloudy with a current temperature at 10am of 28C. It feels warmer though!

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 24th December – 30th December 2018

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 24th December – 30th December 2018; View over Plai Laem beach, with Big Buddha in the far distance. A narrow beach and not that great for swimming. It's very flat and shallow and covered with rocks. Great views though and quiet!

Last week was a fine week. It started out with rain on Monday and Tuesday but the rest f the week it was nice and sunny and partially cloudy as the worst option. Maximum temperatures ranged between 33C and 25C. A nice way to finish the year, in good style!

The forecast is a different cooky. Some rain possibly later today and tomorrow. New Years Eve should be dry. However come Thursday 3rd and especially Friday 4th January, a massive storm may be moving over Koh Samui. It may bring very strong wind and lots of rain over these two days.
A potential stormy and turbulent start to the year! We'll see how this will pan out.

In the meantime though, a Happy and Prosperous New Year!

Be safe and don't drink and drive!

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 17th December – 23rd December 2018

Sunday morning again and time for the Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 17th December – 23rd December 2018. This time originating from Surat Thani city. Busy weekends this month so far!

It's blue skies and sunny around Koh Samui with a current temperature of 32C at 10.30am. The rainy season is behind us now. Enjoy the sun and crazy hot temperatures for December!

In Surat Thani it is very similar to Koh Samui. Blue skies and in the lower thirties Celsius.
This morning I ran my last race of the year at Central Plaza in Surat Thani and placed 5th in my age category 50-59 years. Later today we're heading back home again to Koh Samui.

Last week the weather on Koh Samui turned from monsoon and rain into dry and sunny with blue skies! As of Thursday, the day after I got back from Phuket, the weather changed for the better. Maximum temperatures ranged from 26C to 33C and minimum temperature 24C. Occasionally there was some strong wind.

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 17th December – 23rd December 2018; Earlier this week I was still on Phuket. For the first time I was able to visit the new Central Floresta. This brand new shopping department is opposite the Central Festival and they are connected by a walking bridge

The forecast for next week is looking good. Tomorrow it will still be very sunny. Tuesday and Wednesday more cloudy with possibly some rain. The rest of  next week and the coming weekend should be cloudy but dry. Enjoy this nice weather at the end of the year!

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 10th December – 16th December 2018

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 10th December – 16th December 2018

Late afternoon but time for the Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 10th December – 16th December 2018.
It's been a busy day with a 10km race early morning in Phuket Town at 6am. After that I was off to Kata beach for the closing of the PADI IE (Instructor Exam). Both events went successfully. I was 6th this morning in my age category 55-59 during the run. At the PADI IE both of my candidates passed with flying colors.

In the meantime, back on Koh Samui, it came down bucket wise. Hard to very hard rain was around in the morning. Now it's slightly better, wet but no hard rain anymore. Current temperature at 16.30 is 25C.

Phuket had rain last night and a drizzle at occasion this morning. At 16.30 it's 29C and mostly cloudy.

Last week was a classic rainy season week on and around Koh Samui. Most days rain with sometimes hard rain. Plenty of floods all around the island. However, with the current drainage system, the water doesn't stay around for too long once it stops raining.
Temperatures last week ranged from 31C to 24C

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 10th December – 16th December 2018: Bangtao beach on Phuket. Early morning and still nice and empty.

Just hold on for three more days. Come Wednesday the rainy season is looking like it's on the way out. Tomorrow and Tuesday still look very wet but Wednesday afternoon it should turn dry, and the sun should break through again.
Get ready for a white Christmas! I mean, a dry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everybody and enjoy your time on Koh Samui next week.

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 3rd December – 9th December 2018

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 3rd December – 9th December 2018

It's Sunday morning and once more time to have a look at the Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 3rd December – 9th December 2018.

Koh Samui has been struggling with plenty of rain the last week and this Sunday morning was no exception. Hard rain early on in the morning and right now at 10am it's still the same, cloudy and wet. Current temperature at 10am is 26C

Since Tuesday I am on Phuket, enjoying much better weather conditions here compared to Samui. Sometimes an afternoon or evening with hard, but also plenty of sun time. Current temperature near Kata on Phuket at 10am today is 28C and it's partially cloudy.

This morning a participated in a 10km race at Bangtao beach on Phuket, which is near the Phuket Laguna. I did well qith a race over 10.85km in 50'49 minutes and got the 4th place in my age category 50-59 years old. On Phuket that's a good result for me!

Last week, around mid week the rainy season hit Koh Samui full on. Lots of rain, cloudy skies and plenty of flash floods all over the island. If you're really lucky, you will get a power cut thrown in at no extra cost!
Maximum temperatures reached 32C and minimum temperature reached 23C on 7th December.

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 3rd December – 9th December 2018; This morning I ran a mini marathon in Bangtao on Phuket. This is a picture at Bangtao beach, with some free roaming pigs.

The forecast is not looking too good for next week. A steady, fairly strong wind and hard rain to light rain pretty much every day with few breaks in the downpour. Let's hope this won't last too long and we can welcome sunnier skies soon enough again.

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 26th November – 2nd December 2018

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 26th November – 2nd December 2018

It's Sunday morning and this blog we have a look at the Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 26th November – 2nd December 2018.

It's nice and fairly sunny with a current temperature of 30C on Koh Samui but it feels already much closer to cooking temperature once you're out in the sun.

I find myself for the third consecutive weekend in Surat Thani. Yesterday my wife's niece graduated from the Tapee University in Surat Thai, so the whole family came over.
This morning a ran a 10k mini marathon race. I also ran 3km before and 5.5km after after the race to get my training quota in.
Now it's time to enjoy the weekend market in Surat Thai and a few other shopping opportunities that my wife wants to visit!

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 26th November – 2nd December 2018, The big Seatran ferry # 10 at the Nathon pier, ready to unload. The last three weekends I was in Surat Thani, including this current weekend. Lots of Seatran travelling and use. Tuesday I will be on the road again, off to Phuket to start a PADI IDC come Wednesday,

Last week was a nice week, with plenty of good weather and sunshine. Two days had rain, towards the end of the week but the weekend was nice again. Maximum temperatures reached 34C and minimum temperatures reached 24C.
Another very good week for a rainy season! Mild and fairly sunny! Keep it coming!

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 26th November – 2nd December 2018

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 26th November – 2nd December 2018; Surat Thani flat bottom boat trip at the weekend market. This market and the boat tour are located just over the bridge at the city shrine, a few kilometers inland at a local temple or wat. The bot ride is 20Baht per person and well worth it. A nice and relaxed ride for about 15-20 minutes in a nice natural environment with a canopy made by water palm trees. The market is also nice and worthwhile visiting. Some good food to be had!

The forecast for next week is looking good for tomorrow. After that be prepared for a couple of showers each day and some hard wind and wet days over the weekend.

Welcome to December 2018

Welcome to December 2018

The last month of the year has started and it's a 'warm' Welcome to December 2018.
The weather during December on Koh Samui has typically two faces. A wet and windy face with lots of rain, thunderstorms and flash floods during the first half of December. Less clouds and rain with some more sunshine during the second half of the month.
These are generalizations though. Last year we had a very rough December almost all month long. This year it looks like the first couple of days of December 2018 are looking nice. Later during the week, some rain might show up and next weekend looks windy and wet!

Welcome to December 2018

Welcome to December 2018; Nathon boulevard, yesterday late afternoon. The sun is setting and the Seatran ferry to Donsak is about to set sail. With us on it! Three weekends in a row now, I have been in Surat Thani! This weekend for our nieces University graduation ceremony.

It will be a busy month for me, a PADI IDC needs to be taught on Phuket. The next fur Sundays will also see 10km runs or mini marathons as they are called here in Thailand. Two in Surat Thani with tomorrow morning one of them and a Christmas run in Surat. The next two weekends will see me in action on Phuket.

There will also be plenty of Christmas and New Years activities around the island. Check with your respective hotels and keep an eye out on my Facebook page.

Enjoy your stay on Koh Samui throughout this December and merry festive days!

Goodbye to November 2018

Goodbye to November 2018

The end of a month has arrived and we like to say Goodbye to November 2018.

November is always 'the big one' when it comes down to the weather. It's the month with most rain in the year with a hefty rainy season at times.
This year it has been a fairly mild November though. Yes, we had a couple of days with hard rain. With the accompanying flash floods. But we also had lovely sunny weather and blue skies and partially blue skies.
For a November, the 2018 has been very nice, with no real day or week long rains. It has been a toss up between most rainy and sunny days. I think they balanced each other out this November.

Goodbye to November 2018

Goodbye to November 2018; Bang Rak beach road during a landing at Samui airport. Just a two months ago, but with similar weather as this November.

Maximum temperature reached 34C but we also had a few isolated days where the Celsius didn't reach 30C and just stayed a few degrees below 30C.
The minimum temperature was 24C but the humidity was very high, some days reaching 100%!

The conclusion is that this November 2018 was a nice and mild November version for Koh Samui! Let's look forward to go into December and hopefully we can carry this relatively mild November weather all the way through December.

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 19th November – 25th November 2018

Just past 10.40 on Sunday morning and here we are with the Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 19th November – 25th November 2018.
No running this morning, since I was working at a half marathon in Surat Thani with the timing system. A very different point of view towards a race.

It's really nice today considering we're in the midst of the supposed rainy season. It's partially cloudy with a 30C temperature. It feels a lot warmer though, especially when the sun is out.

Last week was a very good for November around Koh Samui. Plenty of sunny and partially cloudy days, except for Tuesday and parts of Wednesday. There was some hard rain on these two days. Other days during last week were just fine. Maximum temperatures ranged from 31C to 24C but it was very humid though.

Most of last week I was in Khao Lak for a few days of teaching and diving. The yearly Loi Kratong festival was celebrated as well when I was down there.

The forecast for next week is predicting mixed weather. Tuesday may see a bit of rain and Wednesday and Thursday may be a bit more wet. The rest of the week may see occasional showers. Still very favorable for this time of the year.

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 12th November – 18th November 2018

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 12th November – 18th November 2018

Sunday afternoon and here we go again with the Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 12th November – 18th November 2018.

Long Sunday very early morning run done in Surat Thani and back on Koh Samui again. Time for a wedding celebrant job later this afternoon.

It's almost 14.00 and it's 29C with a partially cloudy sky. Sometimes there's sunshine and occasionally a short shower floats over. Some parts of the island are dry, whilst other parts are getting showered on. Life on Koh Samui during November and we're blessed so far with this month, since it can be a lot worse.

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 12th November – 18th November 2018; Laem Sor temple, the boat on the hill! Construction is going on at the same temple grounds for a new building. And yes, this is how Samui's sky sometimes looked last week! Mostly during the mornings.

Last week was a real mixed bag around Koh Samui. We had sunny mornings and we had rainy afternoons. Nothing too bad though, no major floods except for some flash floods. These flash floods clear as soon as the rain stops, within an hour or faster.
Maximum temperatures ranged from 31C to 24C being the lowest recorded temperature last week.

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 12th November – 18th November 2018

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 12th November – 18th November 2018; View from the Don Sak chedi. You can spot the chedi on top of a mountain when you arrive on a ferry, coming from Koh Samui at Don Sak port. This is also how Samui's sky looked like plenty of times, last week. Mostly during the afternoons. The next days and weeks I will be coming through Don Sak, on my way to or coming from Surat Thani. At least each weekend for the next 3-4 weekends. Also including visits to Khao Lak and Phuket. Lots of travelling and work ahead.

The forecast for next week looks very similar. Except for Tuesday and Wednesday when a storm is passing over parts of South Thailand. Koh Samui will be on the fringes of this storm and expect some rain and increased wind.
All in all it still looks very nice for a Koh Samui November. Enjoy the breaks! Hopefully we get away with an easy rainy season this year.

Famous last words!

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 5th November – 11th November 2018

Sunday afternoon at Suvarnabhumi airport in Bangkok but time for the Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 5th November – 11th November 2018!
It's been a hell of a week with a bona fide seeing off at the end.

Currently it's 30C on Koh Samui at 5pm and it was dry and partially sunny again today. A nice break from earlier this week. There was a run around the island with many join/exit points today and my wife joined the event. I would have run a part of it but ended up being in Bangkok this weekend.

My time in Bangkok was spent training for, on and with a timing result company at sport events. Yesterday I spent a day in the office getting familiar with the timing system and all the hardware. This was followed by staffing with the timing crew at a half marathon and 10km event. It was strange to be on the other side of the fence this time!

It's a quarter past five in the afternoon at Suvarnabhumi where I am waiting for my flight back home. Current temperature here at the airport is 35C. It was a very dry weekend in Bangkok.

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 5th November – 11th November 2018; Flooding in front of Big C, one of the hot spots around the island. Picture by Yunona Rozhdestvenskaya.

The first half of the week was really nice with sunshine and slightly cooler weather. The previous two days however, Friday and Saturday had it in them. Hard to moderate rain all day long. Possibly due to a having been thunderstruck, a teak house in Bang Rak burned down and flash floods were at many points around the northern part of the island.
The drainage system can't deal with lots of rain in a short time frame but it's good to see that once the rain stops the floods disappear rather quickly.

Temperatures last week ranged between 33 and 24C

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 5th November – 11th November 2018; Burger King Bangkok style. A fairly newly opened outlet at Surawongse road, in typical Old Thai style. This outlet received a lot of attention in social media in Thailand.

The forecast for next week is looking good for this time of the year. No more torrential rains and subsequent floods should be part of next week. Instead it may be partially cloudy at best with an occasional shower throughout the day or night. Good stuff for this time of the year and month.
Enjoy your stay on the island!

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 29th October – 4th November 2018

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 29th October – 4th November 2018

Sunday morning, time for the Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 29th October – 4th November 2018. Sunday morning run done in Khao Lak but my calves still feel sore from last weeks run in Phuket. 4.5km up and down a steep hill!

It's partially cloudy but dry at the moment on Koh Samui. I do expect some rain later today though.

In Khao Lak it's also partially cloudy but not as warm. A nice 28C but it will heat up here. The daily afternoon rain seems to have vanished here and most days last week were dry

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 29th October – 4th November 2018

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 29th October – 4th November 2018; The sports track at Baan Namuang at the local Koh Samui stadium. The track is now under construction, so I'm not sure what the plan is. Will there be a new track and if so, what kind of surface will be used. Plenty of local Samui runners used this track for their training, but it's really far away from where I live. Wish it wouldn't be so far away and I would use it as well.

Last week on Koh Samui had maximum temperatures of 24C and the lowest Celsius we had was around 25C. Most days last week there was rain though, at some stage during the day and yesterday afternoon and early evening there was plenty of rain. The local hot spots saw some flash flooding and yesterday evening some areas had power cuts. For this time of the year, nothing unusual, although we can do without the power cuts.

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 29th October – 4th November 2018; The 813 boat in Khao Lak. Every time I visit Khao Lak and teach a PADI IDC, I always drop by to see how things are with and around the boat. It has changed drastically over the years and once more, construction is going on. We'll see around March how things have panned out for this 'upgrade'. It's still is and hopefully will remain an amazing reminder of the 2004 tsunami.

The coming week can be very nice, almost untypical November nice, until around Thursday. From Thursday onward expect plenty of rain and possibly for a couple of hours on an end with short breaks. It looks like the rainy season is closing in.

Goodbye to October and welcome to November 2018

Goodbye to October and welcome to November 2018

It's the first of November and here we go with a Goodbye to October and welcome to November 2018.

October was what I expected from it and a little bit better! The rainy did not start during October but many a day had some rain. The closer we got to November, the more often there was rain during some part of the day. As already mentioned before, no rainy season rain with rain all day long, except for one or two days.
Overall that means that it was a fairly average October, plenty of sunshine to be enjoyed and the amount of rain that can be expected during this of the year.

There was the Skal Samui 10 mile run, my sisters sun visited, the family went to Hat Yai and Trang and the last week of the month I found myself in Khao Lak teaching a PADI IDC. Busy days!

maximum temperature reached 34C a few times and the coolest it got was around 26C during the early mornings .

Goodbye to October and welcome to November 2018

Goodbye to October and welcome to November 2018; Sunset at Fisherman's Village from the always lovely Juzza Pizza restaurant. Great food and great views with sunsets.

November is usually the wettest month on Samui. This is when we sooner or later have our rainy season. Meaning, it can rain 24 hours per day for a couple of days in a row, Roads flood, power cuts are a plenty and you just can't wait until the month is over.
This usually holds on until around mid December. On very rare occasions, November is nice, but in general; expect rain and lots of it.

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 22nd October – 28th October 2018

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 22nd October – 28th October 2018

It's Sunday evening and time for the Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 22nd October – 28th October 2018. It's been a very long with getting up very early, travel from Khao Lak where I am to Phuket. Run a very hard hill race, drive back to Khao Lak. Start to work and teach a PADI IDC upon arrival back in Khao Lak. Before you know it the evening is gone.

However, first things first. The Koh Samui weather today. Maximum temperature reached 32C but it felt a lot warmer. It was hot and humid. For late October a nice day.

In Khao Lak we had a typical day, like almost every day last week. Nice and sunny in the morning and rain during the afternoon. The evening is dry again. maximum temperature here also reached 32C. It is however a lot cooler during the night and early morning, down to 22-24C.

This morning I drove to Chalong in Phuket, at around 3.30am. I participated in a very steep hill run race. 6km up and 6km down. It all went well but it was a very hard race considering it was such a relative short distance to cover.

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 22nd October – 28th October 2018; This is a picture of an Isaan restaurant almost opposite the Bangkok-Samui hospital on the ring road in Chaweng. The small 'sala's', the place where you sit, are very typical for these kind of restaurants.

Last week the weather on Koh Samui was a real nice mixed bag. Some days were sunny. One day was rain all day and most days had a nice mix. Relatively nice for this time of the year. Next month the rainy season can be expected and we may have rain all day long. Every bit of sun we can catch now is nice!
Maximum temperature last week reached 33C and the minimum was 24C.

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 22nd October – 28th October 2018; Sunset in Khao Lak this evening, in front of my hotel Srichada. The sun sets over the ocean but unfortunately you can't see the water. It had just stopped raining and the clouds were breaking up.

Next week is looking good. Plenty of sunshine is predicted with just an occasional shower on Wednesday and Saturday. Come Sunday there may be more clouds and more rain.
Enjoy next week, it looks like a nice week ahead of us.

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 15th October – 21st October 2018

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 15th October – 21st October 2018

A day late but here we are with the Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 15th October – 21st October 2018.
Right now, Monday morning around 11.30am it's nice and sunny with a current temperature of 31C. It feels a lot warmer though.

Last week saw a mixed bag kind of weather moving over Koh Samui. Some showers early during the week, mostly early in the morning. Nicer and sunnier weather towards the end of the week.
Maximum temperatures reached 34C and the lowest temperature recorded on Koh Samui last week was 23C.

Yesterday saw the first Skal Samui 10 mile run and 2 mile obstacle course at the Namuang stadium. For a first time event it went all really well with over 500 participants and a little bit of surplus for this charity event to hand out later.

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 15th October – 21st October 2018; A view high up on the mountain from the Jungle Club. This is located at the Southern part of Chaweng, even past Chaweng Noi. A relaxed bar and restaurant with a great view over the Chaweng beach and bay.

This week should be fairly sunny, with an occasional shower. Until Friday, that day there might be plenty of rain, well into the weekend.

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 7th October – 14th October 2018

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 7th October – 14th October 2018

It's Sunday morning and time for the Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 7th October – 14th October 2018.
No running this weekend since I'm still suffering from a mild cold. It just isn't going away!

It started out nicely this morning with plenty of sunshine. That has changed though and at almost 10am cloud cover is taking over. Current temperature at 10am is 29C

Maximum temperatures reached 32C this week and it dropped to 25C at the most.

We had a lot more rain last week then expected. As you can see though, the temperatures were still nice though. We had some sunshine but most days there was some rain. Nothing too bad but still wet. Sometimes a few hours at a time.

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 7th October – 14th October 2018

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 7th October – 14th October 2018; Massive construction going on at the government hospital in Nathon. The whole 'heart' or center of the hospital is being dug up. Not sure what is being constructed, it's too early to tell. It's part of a big make over, construction has already been going on for well over a year. This seems to be a massive job though.

The forecast for the next seven days is looking good. Overcast but supposedly dry until Wednesday. A little bit of wind and possibly a shower after that but also more chance of sunshine.

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 1st October – 7th October 2018

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 1st October – 7th October 2018

Sunday morning, another week gone and once more time for the Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 1st October – 7th October 2018.

No running this morning since I was knocked out by a cold the last two days. I will try to give that another go tomorrow.

Surprisingly it's sunny and dry this Sunday morning, in total contrast to last week. Last week it was overcast and wet everyday except for Monday. During the afternoons it cleared up and went dry with a bit of sunshine here and there.

Today it is 29C at 10.30am and it looks like it will stay dry for the remainder of the day.

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 1st October – 7th October 2018

Koh Samui, Thailand weekly weather update; 1st October – 7th October 2018; Just outside Nathon, the beach with a view towards Koh Phangan. This picture was taken during the last week of September. The first week of October saw quite different weather!

Next week could see a mix of rain and sunshine. Rather typical October weather. However, it's not the start of the rainy season yet. At least, that's what I believe. Stay tuned for more updates next week and enjoy your time on the island.

Welcome to October 2018

Welcome to October 2018

We're already three days into the new and it's high time to say Welcome to October 2018. The first day of this new was still nice and sunny. However, yesterday and today have been mostly wet and grey. Plenty of showers with an occasional glimpse of the sun during the mornings. At 11am it's 28C and cloudy.
This may hold on until after the weekend when it hopefully clears up a bit.

October in general around Koh Samui can be a mixed bag. In the beginning of the month it still may be nice and sunny. However, later on during the month, the closer we get towards November and the rainy season, it may get wetter and wetter.

Welcome to October 2018

Welcome to October 2018; A brand new copy of a fisherman's boat, in concrete, has been recently unveiled in Fisherman's Village. It's in the middle of the village and hard to miss.

Come Sunday 21st October, there will be the Skal Koh Samui 10 mile run and a 2 mile obstacle course. This will all be happening down in Baan Namuang. You can sign up online or a few selected hotels.

If you're on Koh Samui during October, I hope you will enjoy your stay and find what you're looking for.
